I'm currently trying to drop in my new (re: slightly old) engine, only trouble is I get the Autobox and engine lined up but they won't go the last quarter/half an inch and when I try to tighten the bolts it just starts to bend the flywheel.

The Autobox shaft and the Torque converter are lined up fine and they bolt to the flywheel ok, and I'm using my original flywheel so its not a auto/manual flywheel mismatch. The only thing I can think of is that I've somehow put the flywheel on back to front, but I'm pretty sure I took extra care to put it on the right way round (I'm not so sure now).

Does anyone have any pictures of an auto flywheel attached to an engine so I can triple check? (also if anyone else has had the same problem then I'd appreciate the advice)

are you sure the torque convertor is fully lined up & engaged on the gearbox splines??

Yep, even pulled the engine again, and rebolted to the flywheel to check, I also thought maybe the centre of the TC wasn't engaging with the flywheel but the TC bolts to the flywheel just fine.

Yeah, thats the way I'm doing it, even though its a hassle I was worried about mashing the torque conveter on the gearobx shaft. The only thing I can think of is that I somehow unconciously turned the flywheel round without noticing that I did (and also whilst keeping an eye on which way the flywheel came off- go figure).

I checked on the spare engine and the flywheel won't even attach the wrong way round.

Right, time to take everything apart and start again (again).
