Low petrol =quicker car?

Just a thought, has any one else come across the phenomina (can`t spell) that I and other people I have spoken to have noticed, that when the fuel is very low in the car that it seems a little faster ,picking up better too.I have noticed this on my other cars also,is it maybe a fuel injected issue with petrol return / fume wash or oh I dunno really looking for a possible theory. It is often present when I have a passenger so the lower weight of the car is not the answer, over to you guys any thoughts??

Petrol could be all frothed up because of it cycling round and hence as more air being in it and the car running slightly lean which will probably make it shaper on the uptake.

Shag yer engine mind enventually if that is what it is.

I remember years ago playing with my escort carb, leaned it right out, didn't half may it a bit snappy on the throttle though.

Jezz.

Or maybe it cos the car is probably at its lightest. The ZX holds 72 litres, 72,000 CCs of petrol.

1CC of water is 1g

1000CC of water is 1KG

72,000 of water is 72KG

Lets presure that pertol has the same density at water.

Its the weight of another person when your tank is full.

If it was cos it froths up, you would not get a constent supply of petrol into the engine. YOu would get air bubbles which would make your car go worse

Yes obivously it is weight more than anything however on some cars depending on the fueling setup - It they have the Return to the Tank below the top of the tank they will run better when the fuel level has fallen below that of the fuel return pipe. Not by a great deal tho.

Don't even bother trying it.

I noticed it to by chance, was driving on the red (in a hurry, no time to fuel up). Got to the petrol station, filled her up and she wouldn't start. Had to floor the accelerator and keep my foot there as i turned the key. All her injectors must have been clogged up.

She drove badly for a couple of days after, so the beenfits do not outweight the consequences.

Just my 1 Euro

if anyone wants to try this theory i will be round with my syphoning kit. LOL.....

But you only use optimax so stay away from me. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
