OK, went to try what Mac told me over the phone about bleeding the rad, seemed to take ages to fill with water, then noticed puddle on the floor, underneath theres a nice steady trickle of water :( now I'm hoping that means one of my pipes has burst. After fillin it i squeezed one of the rad pipes and it crunched, i assume thats just coz its brittle and old and possibly whats causing the whole problem. Engine oil not milky, so hopefully headgasket ok

All advice and wizdom welcome

cheers

Mike

in the middle, i looked at it from behind drivers side wheel lookin forward, theres what looked like some kind cross member and was tricklin from there. I would gues below the cambelt area

Where exactly did you squeeze it?

The plastic necks on the rad often crack so if it was close to the radiator that might be the problem.

In which case it's time to buy an uprated rad.

it was near the top, just under the top pipe, it felt crusty inside :( but suppose could ave been rad.

cheers

if its in the middle and dripping from the pulley then you need to check the water pipes going in and out of the block at the front of the engine, maybe even the water pump

ok cheers matey will do

yep the 2little rubber inlet and return hoses can perish,as with sealant behind both water pipes as said even water pump is possible id remove both water pipes clean old sealent off and place new sealant around both metal pipes replace both short hoses whilst your at it they cost £6-7 each so wont break the bank!

with waterpump you need to remove crank pulley and bottom cover to gain full accses to it

make sure all hoses are tight from radiator also
