Well chasing power can get you in the shit and that is a fact LOL!

What a fookin day, Had 9 power runs on the rollers today for some real time maps and gained another 98bhp in doing so  So Chunk Paul and Peter if you think it was fast before then think again  However not all good news.

As we were on the rollers, Pete noticed how the manifolds were glowing bright orange with the heat, the next power run and we hit 186mph in 5th gear and the fookin oil feed pipe to the mechanical gauge explodes causing nice hot RS 10/60 to squirt all over the turbo and manifolds and within 3 seconds we have 12 inch flames that half fill my engine bay :smash: Thank fook Pete grabs the extinguisher and puts the fire out and even more so thank fook it happened on the rollers and not on the way home.

Well the shopping list today is 2 extinguishers for the boot  So what a weekend we gain 100bhp set fire to my car and break my brand new gear box PMSL Do I care? Do I fook lets just carry on with balls of steel learn from experiance and enjoy my crazy project.

whoops

gained another 100bhp .....bloody hell mac .........i would be happy gaining another 10

You gonna get the engine bay plumbed into the extinguishers so you just push a button in the cab?

Glad to see your taking the good results you got before the bad points of the day!

Sounds familiar!!

Was at a garage with my in law having his R33 fixed and while on the ramps they had drained some oil and cleaned it off with some spray on cleaner which again they had let drain off into a tray along with the oil and moved it away, they then had to weld a bolt onto another one that had snapped off and by some freak of nature a spark shot across the floor and into the tray and whoooosh 8 foot flames up against his front bumper. We shit ourselves but it was the poor dog that suffered as they picked his big dog bed up and covered up the tray and putting out the fire. Jesus it stunk and the in law was shaking, everyone else thought it was funny as feck lmao

So what boost are you running at now Mac? Mine gets mapped in 2 weeks time to run at 1.4/1.5 bar :)

Mike

bl00dy hell Mac. Fair play to the guy for just shrugging it off and getting on with it. ive seriously felt like getting rid of the Z on 3 occasions in the past 2 years, due to relatively small things - but fire in the engine bay and brnad new exploding gearboxes....

Like you said it's lucky it popped on the RR and not when you were driving it.

Just imagine how gutted you'd be to lose the car in fire after all this money, time and effort.

Might be worth getting extinguishers installed in the bay as I can't imagine your insurance paying out when they look under the bonnet!

So what power did you make?!

another 100bhp, what does that make it now then?

exploding parts sounds bad, lucky you had it all under control though :)

Mike

I am running 1.4 bar and the only reason we cant run more is the stock fuel pump has now maxed out:(

There is no more fuel to be had LOL so I have just sorted twin pumps and a swirl pot for the boot.

Fookin ell bud, glad the Z didnt get damaged, like a few have said, get a direct engine bay extinguisher, gotta be the safest way!!

Glad to see youve had some good improvments, 100hp gain is a damb fine one!!

I'll call yer later! :)

Yeah Macca let us know, what bhp are you getting now?

PMSL.......The only person I know who spends £70k on their car and then uses what sounds like halfords special palstic hosing for their gauges!

At least it happened in a controlled environment, instead of when you were on the road :)

Bloody hell Ian, take it easy with the beast, looks like she can bite back if you push her to hard heh, bit like a wife lol

Let us know on how much bhp shes gonna be pushing once you have those bits on her

Fas

So now you got the beast breathing fire Mac?

I am glad it didn't total the engine/car. Fookin hell Bro, close, I bet your fookin heart came up into your mouth when the bloody thing first went wooosh? :hurl:

Good luck mate.

Hmmmmmmm what numbers that seems to be the key question:D

Well we ran out of fuel and hit 504 with the stock pump running 20 psi. Once we sort the twin pumps and pipe in the race fuel there is another 200 to be found it that set up with out a problem;)

Before any one says is that all,it was on the same make of rollers that SE had their open day and every one complained because they had low numbers,so even at this stage taking it to Thor its going to be 570+ easy!

 Bloody hell bud , hope all is ok with ya beast and no lasting damage done, good to see you getting her mapped and sorted :D
