You need a better geearbox, im sue tehre are some about as there are a lot of cars coping with 5,6,700 ponies.

It's probably just that cheap shitty clutch that's worn out :D

 

If it's just the 5th gear crunch problem then these boxes seem prone to it anyway without any further problems...

Crunching gears is a syncromesh problem no?

 

It doesn't have any bearing on engine HP, as the syncro don't transmit any power, it just speeds the gear up prior to gearchange.

I think Nissan made some revisions to the later boxes to fix this, 97 onwards IIRC

Just had a call tonight from Peter in Holland,he is pushing big power with his set up and has now broken 3 manual gearboxes,the later being the latest version from Nissan. So it must be fair to say that the stock manual boxes crumble when they hit 500bhp+ :xxx:

they have magic pixie dust which gives them 200 bhp more, allows them to run 600+ on standard internals and of course allows them to run 2000 bhp on a standard box and clutch :smash: :p

I think the syncro is nackered on third gear on mine - unless i use my little finger to ease it into 3rd changing up or down its..... CRUNCH!!!!!!

Not too worry have sorted an autobox that can handle 700bhp and 10 sec quarters!

Still dont solve the problem,Nend just blew one up.

there are a couple of gearbox builders about if i up my power more ill go for a specially made 1 using stock cases im running 400 or so bhp and my gearbox is starting to grind mostley its synchros,theres a bloke down south putting in new synchros a refurbing the box for about 200 quid
