Will Great Britain join the EURO currency? wot do ya´ll think??

I read in some mag that England is seriously re-considering to join the euro money currency, is this correct? does anybody have any news about this? and I would like to know honestly wot is you all opinion? I mean do you all think it´s good for England to have a unique currency like rest of europe, despite Denmark and Sweden? or on the other hand its awful idea?

I myself coming from abroad think it would be nice to use euros in the Uk also and would help England to be much more united towards Europe and most of all agaisnt the $$$ us dollar....

like to hear some opinions about this;

I hope to god we do not join the common currency. Economically we can do without it, and it would be the end of an era. Did you hear/read about the uproar when we were forced to sell by metric weights? Well multiply that by 10 and thats the kind of disagreeance you will be looking at!

Fook that I want to stay brittish :smash:

The UK has always been different to Europe. We dont have european attitudes, beliefs or weather.

I dont want to join the Euro, because there is no point. The interest rates are set by a country and government whoes priority is to benifit the smaller poorer countries who contribute virtually nothing.

When countries joined the single currency, EVERYTHING went up in price.

Ecomonically we can do with out it. We dont have it now and our econemy is doing very well. If our economey is not doing well, then our governments can set interest rates to suite our needs and problems, to help the economey get back on its feet.

Plus the rest of Europe have the ability to get enter a number of countries very easily via a road or train, with their very lax boarder control. So a single currency is a better way for them. In the UK you have to book a plane, boat or channel tunnel train, which requires a lot more planning and less spur of the moment.

Plus the whole EC is floored. 90% of the money which goes into the EEC is unaccounted for. This is billions of our money going into the EEC and then vanishing. There has been calls for independant inviestigations into where it has gone, but it keeps getting refuesed for some reason.

The UK gets the smallest percent of money back from the EC than what they put in. I think we put in the 2nd most money in a year but get the least back. There are a number of countries who will love the EC becuase they get many times back than what they put in and spain is one of them. So the spanish government and people will love it. Finally they have a strong currency and lots of spare cash.

If the EC was one unit looking out for the best of all it would be OK. But its not. French farmers for example, are paid to produce crops, and often grop crops which are not suited for their climate. They produce millions of tonnes of apples which are so bad are thrown away every year. Mean while countries who dont pay their farmers are trying to grow crops to make a living are struggling becuase French farmers are being paid to grow and keep what they make from it.

The European government have actually told France to stop doing this and they have refused.

UK beef got banned from export years ago as we know because of BSE. Did you know that there are more french cows with BSE than in the UK. the kept it quiet. When the ban was lifted by the EC franch still refused to sell it.

Tell me one thing which the whole of the UK has benifited from the EC?

For gods sake, they tried to ban Milk Men, saying that european milk produces can not compete with how fresh we get our milk deilivered to the door. This gives the hundreds of UK milk suppliers a "Monopoly" on selling milk in the UK.

The European goverment is just another very large level of beaurocrasy. meaning another very large level of expensive red tape, another very large level of expensive time wasting, another large level of expensive bickering and the most worring of all, another large level of expensive curruption.

I personally think the UK should stay as it is. The main benifit would be industry sales. At the moment UK companies are strugling in a global market because the pound is so strong. If we joined the euro then our goods would be far more affordable to the rest of the world vastly increasing sales and taxes to the government.

Hang on, we dont actully make anything in the Uk anymore. :x:

I hope not and I seriously don't think the UK government are that stupid. All one has to do is take a look at how Germany now is since signing up for the Euro. Much like the UK, Germany had a very strong economy before joining, now it has one of the highest unemployment rates and recessions in Europe. Something the government will not want to see happen here.

I haven't heard anything about that. But although it may not be beneficial for the country it would do wonders for me cos my parents live in germany and it would make life easier for me when i ask them for money

The EU has its good points and its bad points. on its good side the EU allows underdeveloped nations to gain financial and economic aid in developing by opening borders to allow migration of their peple to gain skills in other more developed countries. The single currency allows the aid of trade between these countries, simplifying in theory finacial transactions and payment f taxes. all at teh expence of the developed countries. Why the fook should we wipe out romanias debt when 80% of its finance is through unlawfull activity?

In truth, the better developed countries gain cheap unskilled labor for a time untill this labor force becomes skilled and then edges out its own populous in the job market. You then expeariance economic downfall and social hardships as the country struggles to maintain unemployment, example would be germany. Again at our bloody expence.

Staying out of the EU has its drawbacks, ease of finacial trasactions, cross border trade and work and a single linked economy.

If you allow free cross border trade, you effectivly allow the country to pick up the finacial burden of all economicaly challenged countries. Fook that, we are doing well thank you very much

We have enough bloody imigrants as it is

why should we have to pay for 2 bloody set of MP's which either frncly are a bunch of money wasting beurocrats.

on top of all that we have never been or never see ourselves as part of "Europe" we hate the French and we tollerate the Germans and Austrians. Can you imagine how hard it is for our grandparents to stomack the fact that we will be taking orders from said countries. Especialy seeing as both said countries do absolutly everything in thier power to hinder us.

Join the EU. Id bloody leave this country for good and send back my honors to the queen in disgust.

Look after you own 1st.

The thing is, we are a member of the EU, we just do not operate with the Euro. There already is free trade between the UK and Europe, so joining the euro would in no way be beneficial to us.

I have heard that interest rates would plumit if we went in to the single currency to around 2%.

This means lower mortgage payments but not good for savings.

House prices shoot up when interest rates are low in this country, so if they lowered even more, house prices could go out of control.

Yes change can be good for those who remember decimalisation in 1969, this was clearly required as the old coinage system was antiquated, however we do NOT need the Euro in the UK, any other country or their governing body who says we do have their own agenda in to focing our hand to swap to the Euro CON......oh sorry I mean`t Euro COIN

Holiday`s abroad where the Euro has been introduced just confirm prices go up when currency type is changed.

regardless of feelings, it will happen, it's just a question of when.

Yep indeed unfortunately it will happen, UK will join the EURO it´s just a matter of time ..but it´s there and there is no escape..yes, Uk is an island but remenber GOV should of thought about this when they decided to become part of the European community;:(
