Owt else I can check - Duffer looked at car and couldnt work it out.

Both my front wheels (drivers side more than passenger) is too far forward and on turning wheels is rubbing on inner plastic guard.

only got 17" modena's on with low profile tyres, it was still too far forward with std wheels anyway.

Ive had both the lower control arms replaced as these were cracked but they are still too far forward.

As duffer and JeffTT both looked at car a while ago and its foxed them, Im just wondering what else.

Car hasnt been in an accident - no buckling anywhere, all obvious signs checked for.

I think JD suggested front adjustable rose jointed arms - cant remember if this would sort it out though? Im just after anything else I can check to see whats up before more money is spent.

thanks

It was a serious comment - once you've eliminated the obvious etc ....

:nelson: nah, the wheels have got worse over time.

like it said, Duffer etc have checked it over.

Im just wondering whether anyone else has ever had the same problem.

Its started to rub away the inner guard on the drivers side now.

I know theres lots it can be, but since Ive had it it had polybushes fitted on front tie? arms. Im going to get another mechanic to look at it next week, like I said, wondering whether anyone else has ever had prob and managed to fix it.

Cheers

OK Decided - what are the first and obvious things to check (just incase)?

Cheers

sounds like something is twisted on the front suspension to me might not be obvious without stripping it down

tracking is out. Had the same on a Saab Turbo. Tracking was adjusted too much to one side. Car ran straight, tyre wear was ok, steering wheel was straight. Problem was tyres catching on the plastic liners.

Had to re-set the tracking so that the track rods on both sides were protruding from their screwed housings equally - then remove the stering wheel and re-postition it pointing forward.

Strange but true.

Good luck

There is a tyre place in Bolton which does 4 wheel lazer allignment with toe, camber and castor (castor is whether the wheel is forward or back in the arch)

They will give a print out of whether it is too far forward based on the rest of the car and not according to body panels. The wheel arch could be slightly out as the inner arches actually screw on to the front wings.

thanks.

somedays Ive noticed its worse than others tho, especially when Ive pulled onto drive and turned on full lock.

Sometimes it touches the inner panel, sometimes its about an inch away?
