With the luck i've had with my Z over the years I think i'm already cursed mate! LOL

IMO..

There's no such thing as ghosts - the only place they exist is in people's heads.

I guess you could say that about religion too though, and that has a powerful effect on the world.

I have just woken up, read the above and laughed my head off. Very good.

But, please not both of us at the same time please.

Then, about 2am, I woke up unable to move, something was holding my hands so tightly to my chest I couldnt move. I pushed as hard as I could, after maybe 6-10 seconds it was gone. But then I was hit on the chest, just once.

I watched or read something about this phenomena ages ago. Extensive research has been carried out and it has shown that people who wake up to find themselve 'pinned' into a position are actually suffering the effects of deep sleep waking. When you are in a deep sleep or i think it is REM sleep your body becomes stiff to prevent you from harming yourself (there are exceptions to this, i.e sleepwalkers) and if you wake up during this period you will feel unable to move.

But that leaves open the question, why the hell did you wake up from such good sleep then?

Actually I could move, but not my arms, which were on my chest, and so not my upper body. And when I could move, so I was then awake, someone hit me.

I know you are not disagreeing, but what would the sceptics say that was I wonder?

Fair enough then. That must have been scary. I am not a fan of sceptics myself. I personally am open to suggestion, but if a fact is revealed i will change my view slightly.

but as my religion is very spiritual, i do like to believe in 'after-life' so to speak.

Bring on Old Hallows Eve

Yes its a little like that.

Your body or parts of your body dont become "stiff," unless you are male and that is just before you wake up ;)

During sleep your body releases a chemical to make your muscles go weak and limp. This is indeed to stop you harming yourself with movment while you are sleeping. Sometimes you will wake up before this chemical wears off, usually it means you are very doppy but if there is enough of this chemical you are litterly parralised, or the bed covers are too heavy for you to lift them. Waiting for 5-10 mins while this chemical wears off, and then you are OK. This is why you feel better after waking up naturally instead of woken up by an alarm, as the chemical wears off for when you wake up, but an alarm will wake up before your body is ready to wake up.

You can feel the chemical working when you first wake up. Make a tight fist now as tight as you can, and "feel" how strong it is. In the morning when you just wake up, make a tight fist again, you notice you have no strenght in your hand at all because this chemical is still in your muscles.

Aaaaahhhh! So it's ketamine you've all been taking! :o

Explains the strange halucinations too! :D

Sorry SRRAE but in my case you are talking out of your ear. No Offence, but boy, do I hate these people who "know" all about this topic and yet have often had no experience themselves. If you really did know you would know what rot you speak.

Whats the term? Barrack Room lawyers.

These are things that have been scientifically researched by sleep specialists. Obviously there will always be exceptions to the rule, but we are talking generally, in the majority of people.
