what really asses me off is too is you have to tell insurance when it comes round for renewal - even not being your fault - your insurance WILL go up because of this.

It's actually an offence "failing to report an accident when someone is hurt" so best do it right away. I had the excact same case 4 years ago and i never told my insurance company as i claimed from the other persons company instead myself, so much easier..

good luck

smithy

If someone is injured other than the driver of that vehicle you must report the accident to the police asap, at the very least within 24 hours. I assume you exchanged the following details - name address, owner of vehicle if different to driver and if the injuries were apparent at the time of the accident you should exchamge insurance details.

Did you get any witness details? If there are no other witnesses then it is unlikely the police will take any further action against the other driver - unless he admits due care! or if there are driving document offences.

Gaz - perhaps you should have had that pink boa wrap after all!

Joking aside, hope everything goes well.

reading through this post and all the other insurance posts .... why do people get so wound up about insurance being really expencive yet they are obsessed with making it even higher the next year ..... i know you haven't mentioned suing for whiplash yourself but it's been mentioned a few times in this thread, do people not realise that they (if they aren't really hurt) are adding to the cost of everyone's premium the next year because the insurance companies will then want to make (and have reason) prices higher to compensate them.

it's rediculous, i know people want to get the most money they can but these things have a knock on effect .... yes i know insurance will never be cheap but if people stop suing for minor things that didn't ever cause and real injury it'll just get worse and worse.

but i do hope you get your z fixed to perfect condition because that it what truely matters

this was not a statement at the starter of this thread it was just so people can realise what they are doing to make things worse.

rant over, sorry

Hope you got is sorted Gaz

yep no problems and the arse of my z is even sweater then it was before

Why are all these old threads getting dragged up? LOL

God I just did the same. Have to say I was really disappointed in all the people saying to screw him over and make a claim for whiplash. I'm not normally one to get on my soapbox but that kind of attitude really boils my piss.

At the end of the day people make mistakes (its called an accident for a reason). I've fortunately never been in that position (causing an accident) but I'd be so pissed off if I did nudge someone and they got out completely fine and we swapped details and then their insurer gets in touch regarding whiplash claims.

I've been hit on a roundabout, spun round and up a kurb but wouldnt dream of claiming for anything unecessarily. Jesus we're always complaining about how high our insurance is and THIS kind of thing has to be a big contributor!!!

yeah i agree this kinda attitude stinks, its only a peace of metal at the end of the day, you dont need to take everything the guys worth just over a nudge. im sure loads of us have bumped someone over all our years of driving.

i just read this whole thread and realised its 3 years old damn it...

Me too, what a waste of time!!!, Was shocked thinking you just got it back on the road :mac1:

sorry mate.. as said above he ain't got a leg to stand on and defo get to doctors you would be made not to

for your information guys the person that hit me all that time ago was uninsured!!!!!

the arrogant ****er was smug enough to give me false details. caz's injury took 2 years to sort out. the car was in a bodyshop for 6 weeks and the guy wasnt found even tho i had photographic evidence . so a lesson to you all

get photos of every thing including the driver and report it to the police immediately!

Sorry didnt see that part, but thats one of the reasons why people do a runner. i know i wouldnt wanna pay up for whiplash unless i knew it was genuine like your girlfriend.

Anyway you cant get away with driving uninsured now coz its all computer logged and number plates are logged automatically by police cars, cams etc. they cam tell if you have ever been arrested, your mot is out or when you last picked your nose.
