just fitted the hicas eliminator and Ive *STILL* got rear wheel wobble, causing back end of car to feel like its on ice when I hit bumps.

Mechanic had a look at it and told mne both rear track arms that bolt into the hicas are shot? with car up in air you can move the wheel left and right and see the knuckle on the arm (closest to the eliminator) moving.

also the drivers side knuckle it bolts onto (wheel end) seems to move around a lot free'r than the passenger side.

Any ideas - would 2 rear track rod arms sort the prob or is there meant to be some movement?

Cheers

80% of em are worn bud!-get new!! :D

about £65 a piece IIRC.

Had to change mine for the MOT last week. Car feels _so_ much better now!! (I had 2 to 3mm of play on each side!)

Took a couple of hours for me to do once I'd made a puller to remove the ball-joint coupling.

ye both mine were shot, and replacing them TRANSFORMED the car!

thats the problem

there should be no play in any of the balljoints

had mine reconditioned cost me £45 and that inc removal of the arms from the rack and to reset the rack.

anyone know who would condition them?

cheers

just get new ones. i dont know how you can recondition them, the ball is machined on to the end of the track rod,and the socket is pressed over it.once its worn its worn. bin job. i got mine from MJP on here

£46 a side. seems quite dear but hey.

just do it! mine had been gone for a while. since i replaced them the handlings never been as good. i never knew 2 ton could change direction so quickly!!

could easy be, along with constantly having to correct the steering to keep it straight, and feeling floaty, and vibes when braking. takes 2 mins to jack a side up and feel for play.

bingo ;)

theres ur problem, its easy to see the ball flapping about if you pull back the gaiter. and its easy to see if its the outer track rod end cos u can see it nae probs.
