I was down in July. I always stay in North Cornwall near Padstow (Padstein?)

If you like to surf there's places near Harlyn Bay that are fine. Harlyn is about 40 minutes from Eden and less than 30 minutes from Newquay and a couple of miles west of Padstow. It is a beautiful place.

Check out Yellow Sands Martin Dakin. He has apartments to rent and does weekends. Safe parking too, 01841 520376. If you want I can tell you where to hire a board and wetsuit!! Martin might tell you where decent B&B is also.

If I wasnt 550 miles away I'd have been back again by now!

i absolutely love Cornwall. youre almost guaranteed to find a B&B with rooms spare - especially at this time of year. try any of the large towns around the E.P. (espesh the ones on the coast)

Mevagissey, close to St Austell, Valley park hotel. off road safe parking.

Its a dickhead free zone. Was reasonable prices, but haven't been for a few years, good food n bar. Loads of B&Bs, good pubs and restaurants in Meva. :duffer:

Padstow is a bit like Meva. But dont eat at Ricks, unless you have a fat wallet. Great seafood, if you can get booked in, allways busy.

Thanks Guys! Thinking twice about going cos of this petrol b*ll*cks. Goona wait tii Fri and see what happens but Megavissy sounds good and it was one of the places we were looking at. As for the the surfing bit - cant swim so me and the sea dont get on! Taking daughter back to Plymouth uni today so I,ll check out the garages on the way down.

Julia and I visit a couple of times a year as we have friends in Camelford.

We always stay at the Bottreau Hotel in Boscastle. Yeah, I know but our regular hotel is at the top of the hill and was unaffected by the flooding. Plus it's business as usual now, in fact they need the tourism because visitors are still staying away.

It's about 1/2 an hour from the Eden Project (in a XZ :D - 45 mins in a normal car) and the north coast is nicer anyway IMO.

Comfortable hotel, quiet, owners are nice people, seriously good food and a decent pub across the road

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
