I recently purchased a modified 1990 2 + 2, it now has a 1993 Jspec TT engine in it - this is uniques as it is a LHD body. I talked wit ha couple of local Nissan shops about my A/T indicator light flashing. When I turn the key on the indicator goes on for 2 seconds and then flashes 16 times, I can not find anything on this and the shops manuals are for US / Canada cars. Seeing as how this is an imported engine and transmission and a completely custom fit, I was hoping someone might be able to tell me what this code is. I read somewhere that it may be the speed sensor....

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

The system is virtually the same.

I think 16 times means power steering.

However, 99% of the time this is caused by either a speedo convertor or the speed sensor on the gearbox.

Have you experienced any change in the power steering. Has it gone heavy at times?

There were a couple of times at low speed that I did lose power steering for about 5 seconds and then it came back. Today coming home from work it happened again for a couple of seconds but I did not notice that the steering was effected when the speedo dropped off. Conversly, at low speeds I did not notice the speedo dropping when the power steering went heavy.

This car is so modified that I am not sure where to start looking for problems. I think that it is all related though, it has an HKS ALC II for the auto transmission, a couple of times while checking the 0 - 60 times the transmission wouldn't shift until I let off the accelerator even when it hit 7500 RPM and I had detonation, I think it all boils down to one word.

TUNING!!!

I just wanted to know where I could find a table that shows what the blinking light means...

Thnx

if you search in the frequently asked questions for ecu codes youwill find the list in there

just a note, the best thing i ever bought for my zed was a subscription to this forum and a renewal this year ..........its worth every penny for the info you get and the help off the guys on here :)

by the way i am subscribed in the uk as "Steve" when im not at work in Russia as sillen nephets ....

the 16 flashes doesn't mean anything, it's just a warning, you have to run the autobox diagnostic to find the error code :)

Yeah,

I tried that, there is a RAZO shifter on their now and I don't think the ovredrive switch is working, 1) The light doesn't come on 2) When I am on the hiway, when I switch on / off the overdrive switch, nothing happens, now I am not sure if this is because of the HKS ALCI-II and I am not in a high enough gear to notice it. I am going to take it for a good run tomorrow and see what happens and also check the wiring to the bulb to make sure its not burned out.

Does the Overdrive circuit have a fuse in it that could be blown??

Thnx

Chris

The overdrive should work fine with the Razo shifter and ALC 11, Manta v8 had both on his without a problem, also read on here once that if the connector screw that holds the wiring plugs together for the ALC 11, either the ecu or the loom connector has been over tightened it can cause the auto box to play up. HTH
