Clutch noise?

I've got a noise coming from the clutch (i think). The clutch has been recently replaced but when the car is static it seems to be making a noise. When i press the clutch in the noise stops?

Any ideas?

is it a twin plate?

a worn release bearing rattles when you release the clutch.

when you press the clutch pedal the bearing is under pressure eg no rattle

some cars can go for years with a rattly bearing not sure on the z

Layshaft also gives these symptoms, clutch in layshft stops no noise

this tends to be a heavier ''rumble'' tho'-depends what noise you got?

the noise dissapears when i press the clutch and comes back when released. It sounds like a slight scoreing noise, its not bad but i'd like to know what it is.

...don't hear it at all when driving, only when static and out of gear.

you comment doesn't sound right, you said the noise is present when the cluch is pressed, but it's only present when the clutch pedal is released.

Think that's what he meant mate!-deffo r/bearing!

ok, but wouldn't that have been replaced with the clutch? I guess its abig job anyway so i'll leave it until a new clutch is due. Just have to keep my foot on the clutch!

yep sorry if i wasnt very clear im quite tired ...yet i ment when you release the clutch without it in gear the rattle is heard.

when you depress the cluch the rattle disapears

correct!

obviously it wasn't replaced when the clutch was done, don't suppose i could take it back? - was done before i got the car but still under warrantee i think.
