SQUEAKING MOUSE UNDER BONNET?

Hi all,

got an intermmitent mouse squeaking type noise under the bonnet when the engine is running, it squeaks when stationary and it doesn't increase when the engine revs. Has anybody got any ideas apart from FEEDING IT CHEESE? Or am I looking for a mouse in a haystack.

Cheers

Could be the bonnet latch thingy where it closes, if the paint has worn away then it wil be an annoying squeak, srrae had the same problem, try a search, he recommended some electrical tape around the bonnet catch, as a way to stop it for a while, granted the tape will wear away, but you can always then put some more on.

See ya

the same happen on ours except it wasnt when stationary it was accentuated when going over bumps. The solution is to egt some electrical tape and wrap it twice round the D catch bit on the hood for the catch.

Yup the electrical tape round the the bonnet catch, The 'D' as Clarkey calls is stops the problem.......

Hopefully..........

thats what it is like under the electrical tape, I dont think it woul have been long till the hood flew open when driving redface.gif

I think the bonnet wouldnt have flown open. On the U bit there must be about 2 mm of paint around it. Where the latch has been latching on to it, its has worn away the paint, thus makeing the U about 4 mm smaller. Enough to make it squeek cos its a little lose.

The tape makes it that little bit thicker again. It does get destroyed after about 2 times of opening it, but there is still enough there to stop the squeek at idle.

:)

Check the bonnet is not rubbing on the air filter cover (the bit between the lights with the emblem on it) This is held on with 2 screws and if too close to the bonnet it squeaks like a bad'un. This is often not put on correctly after filter replacement.
