Hello fellow Z enthusiasts.

Ive got a very annoying problem with my 300ZX TT automatic, since I

had a replacement auto box fitted (could be coincidental), from cold and until

the engine has really warmed up-a couple of miles maybe, the engine revs

fluctuate between probably 900rpm to 1500rpm when idling at a junction or traffic lights for instance.Once warmed up the problem dissapears. The car has

an Apexi induction and the filter has been cleaned thoroughly.Could this be a problem with a sensor?any help from other members will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks for your time

sounds like your iaav located on the passanger side at the back ...remove this take apart and clean as they get gummed up.

worth a shot

Thanks Hellraiser, firstly, please excuse my ignorance but what is iaav and from your description of its location I assume its near the nearside bulkhead

behind the engine?

Thank you for your response by the way :)

Gave it a thorough clean out but still the same problem :(

I notice that Im only getting the problem in Drive,in neutral-from cold

its revving at about 1600rpm,drop it into drive, with brake applied and the

rev counter drops to around 600-700 but then blips up and down as previously mentioned to around 1200 rpm.A good run round for a mile or two and the problem seems to go.

One of those annoying problems that is gonna be a real pain to solve is my guess

Can anyone suggest anything!!

many thanks

Still could be that same valve mate, can be tricky to clean all the gunk out or it could be knackered.

clean the throttle bodies with some carb cleaner. clean the TPS connector & temp sensor connectors with electrical cleaner.

check the TPS voltage setting (or with a conzult if anyone local to you has one)

poss replace the TPS if ness & temp sensor/wiring harness

Before buying a new iaa valve I retried cleaning the existing one, jetting it through with carb cleaner released quite a bit of gunk that I'd previously missed  .I had a look at the sensor behind the fan too,the bi-metal

strip had quite a bit of verdigris on so I cleaned this too.Refitted and gave the car a good run round...PERFECT!!!

Thought Id share this with you in case anyone has a similar problem and dig this thread from the archives.

Many thanks to the people who helped

Keep up the good work guys!
