dodgy fan switch

hi everybody having a bad day with the z today...noticed when i wiggle the yellow connector under the bonnet in the top water pipe and hold it in curtain positions the electronic fan kicks in....when i let go it stops also after a couple of seconds holding it the engine revs rise for a few seconds then fall... i dont think it kicks in when the car is warm (worried) temp guage is controlled by this one aswell isnt it ?

 

 

ive cleaned the connectors what could it be

The yellow one only controls the electric fan, providing the fan isnt woking when plugs connected, but fan works when disconnected, its working fine.
