Well here tis,

The car appears standard apart from ride height but the guy who sold it to me was an importer not an enthusiast...he didnt know anything about the car..

I have just got home with it so I dont know much either....it has after market suspension you can see from the pictures thats its been slammed.

Does anybody know what the little four coloured adjuster on top of the strut is attached to - some sort of coilover I wager ...its a circular disc about 15mm with four coloured segments..any ideas...is it TEIN.

Great car to drive / quite lively and nimble NOT A BARGE..... :D

Id dare say not much difference in size (SWB Remember) to an MR2 SW20 mk2. More power of course hehehe !

Im one happy bunny !!!

Welcome to the club mate! Can only see phots of the exterior? looks nice. I'd imagine its a bit bigger and heavier than an mr2?? different feeling with the engine furthur forward I guess. Dave

Pics of interior coming up.

Didnt think anyone wuld be that interested as the interior is BOG.

Yeah a tiny bit bigger and heavier than my old MR2 but not by as much as I thought and the weight distribution is better for it.

As I found out from my attempts to chanage the shape of the Armco at the Nurburgring the MR2 SW20 has a tendancy to loose the rear end fast....ask those guys who have done that at a rounabout. Im thinking that the Z has better feel at speed the MR2 albeit a fine car is directionaly vague.

looks good mate welcome to the realm of zeds lol

got any pics of the suspension it may help to identify it

There was a girl at the Castle Combe track day with an MR2 doing a bit of drifting, she was saying how she had to watch it once the rear end started coming round (oo-er) lots of weight in the back. She span it in front of me a few times, you could see the momentum difference with all the weight in the back. Once it started it looked hard to stop/control. Mind you I made a good copy when I spun out a bit later.

I meant the engine bay type pictures by the way, for the suspension setup. Not that I'd know what it was anyway, but someone probably will. Dave

Welcome buddy.

Nice SWB there, the better choice :D

TEIN suspension is one of the best there is matethey are fully adjustable coilovers, but there worth nothing so i'll come and take em off for free! :D

Youve done well to get a nice Z like that!

Hi John

I used to have an MR2 Tubby and I have to say the Z is by far a better drivers car. As long as all the bushes shocks and Hicas are good the Z its a great drive. I used to find the MR2 was far too twitchy and I never got confident with the car. Great thing about the Z is that power is only restricted by your pocket (to a degree) ;)

Andy

Thanks for all the encouragement and welcomes..yeah I am very pleased with the car.

I have said that I wont throw cash at it after doing up an MR2 and bending it then spending an absolute fortune on an RX-7 but finding I have turned it into a track car thats too noisy and has a poor ride for the road etc etc. BUT if my history is anything to go by I will be joining all you guys with the mods...lets hope I can do it tastefully and carefully with thought for wehat I am turning the car into.

The tv program HOTRODS or whatever the one with Boyd Coddington ...well they said something about modded cars which made me think ..."There are Fast road / Sport cars, Show cars, Track cars" it may sound obvious but in this country some of us just modd our cars with no real idea of the desired end result.

I want this car to remain what it is a Fast road / Sports car ...so I want to keep the sound to a burble not a shreik, the suspension to compliant, the air con working etc etc but that does not stop me wanting more power, better brakes, Nice seats, Deep dish wheels etc etc.

they look like KYB AGX adjustable shocks to me.

Yep look exactly like my KYB AGX shocks i had

fitted a few weeks ago. The rear adjuster should be

on the bottom of the shock facing rearwards.

Nice shorty by the way

Hi Bubbles

Yeah already seen your SWB, sweet car... got a picture printed off and notice ,I have knicked the angle shot off ya mate...that side view is the essence.

So its KYB so whats hard setting and what is soft

No instructions

No hand book

No Service History

No nufink

Jap style

Nismo are a good choise but pricey. I have a mixture of them and Energy suspension bushes.

Be warned though, rear subframe removal is a big job. If your bushes are original its likely they will need doing. I found an instant improvement, back end felt so tight. Would just squat down and go even under high boost. Completely eliminated any wheel tramping.

Doctor Doctor
