Yes I know... I shouldnt be reading Max Power but I had nothing better to do and I was waiting for a friend so I thought I'll go browsing in WHSmith and see what has change. Not much but there was definetly an odd number of 300ZX in the mag for some reason. A huge amount actually!

There's an article about import cars and what you should get... they had 300ZX in there and listed it at from £1500. They've seem to be featuring the Z alot these days. Could this be the reason why we are having an influx of young Z drivers these days!? I'm already feeling old and I've still got a few more years before I hit my 30s! :slap:

I remember a little while ago there was a thread about these spoilers. There were some on here that I thought looked quite good, although not my cup of tea really. I like them on 200sx's that are set up for drifting/track driving, I'd imagine they might do something practical then. Dave

I have secured a 300ZX from Japan through Group 20 imports. In total i will pay £5500 for a ZX with 39,000 miles (rather dubios figure this but i suppose in urban Japan you dont need to drive far). It will have a full service, new timing belt and a RAC 12 month warranty. I know a ZX will be expensive to maintain but i want a good one to start with.

I love the ZX's no compromise 80's sports car stlying. Its far better than the inoffensive retro styling of sports car's today. The 350Z is not a bad car at all but when it goes down a road people wont go 'woah, what is that' like they would looking at a 300ZX.

I am 30 and the only other sporty car i had was an Alfa Romeo 164 3.0. Which was built for Roman road - straight roads. Take it round a slightly wet and it will go straight on, quite scary lol.

Nice wheels. Actually looks like a nice car... but somebody *really* needs to explain to me why in so many of these photos the bonnet isn't properly closed. Gets right up my nose.

Nope, it may go like a mother ****er, but it's sure darn ugly. New 3 series is vile and don't even get me started on that 5hite known as the 1 series.

Hey Si,

Don't be afraid to speak your mind mate

You're not wrong though......

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I really dont think so. I think although a lovely car this doesnt appeal to chavs. I have a teenage son. 19 next month and he thinks its a great car.....For me? He would rather buy an older Scooby or Mitsu Evo. Or ford RS focus I know what everyone is saying that if they become affordable but I think they will all kill themselves before they have a chance to get noticed? I dont mean to be a total B'std but IndianZx seems to be the prime (type) subject of the thread. IMO.

I was reluctant to get a Evo, WRX or Celica GT4 as i wonder how much stress can a 2L engine take. Tunining one to 400HP sounds like a receipe for a major service every 4000 miles. Im told that the 300ZX is a reliable car if you look after it.

Though the 300 ZX from my experience is a dozer compared to a GT4 going around bends. This Gt4 i went in could go around a roundabout at 60mph it was amazing.

If there was a league table for knowledge of the 300Zx on this site I would be somewhere near the bottom? Nethertheless. My car is quite low (you can see in my pictures) and I can say without fear of contridiction that it goes round corners with ease. So I spose it depends what setup you have. I also own a Volvo S80 T6 and all the write up's say that for a big car it handles well. My ZX handles much better? IMO. I have taken average sized Roundabouts at more than 60. But I will ad that being Auto I should imagine a manual would handle better if not only because you have more control over the power delivery?

This is a very interesting thread. not once did I see a 300zx owner referring to the heritage this car comes from.

Since 1969 that magical letter Z has excited a number of generations. Why is a GTO valued more than a 300zx? Why are supras considered a superior car?

Simply, they had no history, nothing to be compared to. Just a clean sheet. Cars made from new materials and technology developed in the late 80's, Early nineties. Some are superior, I must admit, in technology.

Datsun/Nissan re-difined the sports car. A reliable sleek looking car that revolutionised the motoring industry in 1969 with the first 240z.. But that is where the motoring journalists came into play. Every new model was compared to the last. When our beloved 300zx model z32 came along in 1990 it was described as "stunning, word leading," one journalist even called it the "best sportscar in the world", referring to the n/a in 1990.By 1996 the same journalists were saying " too expensive, the Z has gone too heavy and too complicated".

The Supra ,Gto and many others came out around the same time with nothing to live up to.The Motoring press loved these new cars. But in my opinion this is to our advantage. I couldn't care less what people tell me about supras ,gto's skylines or all the rest. the Zed is here to stay. It's got substance. Not only that is is one hell of a car to drive. And still a fantastic looking machine.

Passion. That's what it all boils down to.

See what i mean?

Now thats a description.

well done Mick.

cheers Vini, Had fooking tears in my eyes writing that, no joke!

I dont have that passion yet mate. If someone were to attack my 300ZX i would defend it like a member of my family. But I am getting there mate. Copy and paste that last post of yours and keep it. WELL DONE.

you are passionate Vini, you just don't realise it

Hello all, Been reading this thread with great interest as a newbie to the forum, you see the car on the first page advertised on Ebay now belongs to me, well it actually gets driven by the the other half (am girl with no liscence), and yeh, have to agree I think we got a bargain!! But you don't have to worry about this car being chavved up...have no desire to do a Halfords ram-raid job on it....Lol.

Quite simply I fell in love with the zx when they were going for around 17/18k, but back then wouldn't have been able to run it properly.

So, the first thing on the list is a 60k service at Ztech, definately needs hoses changed, and to get the car running sweet as stock, then maybe a few stage 1 mods as to cooling the car more efficiently, would like to take it to the 320/350bhp and then spend up on tidying the exterior and treating the car to a better set of wheels...

:D

wow that was spot on :) i love tradition

So is the 350Z a worthy heir to the 300ZX?

Well, it's a nice car, and I certainly wouldn't turn my nose up at one... but no, I don't think so. Just IMHO of course. It lacks a certain something: I think it's basically just not rude enough. And it's slower as well, what's that all about?

This is why I love the 300ZX soo much... you people make it what it is! Damn it. I need some tissues to wipe my tears.

Agree totally - I drove one a couple of months ago and it is indeed a great drivers car. Excellent in the twisty bits, steering and brakes are spot on. But it doesn't have that mid-range thrust that is delivered by twin turbos  and it seriously lacks the visual appeal.

Drive down a busy high street in a 350 and one, maybe two people will look but do it in the 300ZX and at least 50% of people will turn their heads to gaze at the car.

Especially if it's red
