Right then, I have decided that this weekend is it and I am going to get the car sorted. This includes: -

1. Removing old Engine Loom and fitting new one

2. Replacing viscose fan

3. Replacing solenoid behind the dash for the heater to work

4. Fixing the Accelerator Linakge (So the car doesn't kill me)

5. Replacing front caliper

6. Fitting new plenum

7. Changing spark plugs

8. Oil change

9. Coolant change

God that list looks depressing!!!

So anything I should know about the above, before I start ripping the car apart ?

Quite a bit of work you have there, hope you've got a long weekend :D

1) Take your time, and, if you have a digi-cam, take plenty of pics so that you can se where everything goes.

2) Peice of cake, 4 or 5 10mm bolts, you just need a short extension for your socket wrench.

3) Sorry, no idea :D

4) Depends whats wrong with it?

5) Must look into this myself, as I'm going to be changing the brakes soon.

6) Should be straight forward, again take plenty of pics if you can for referance.

7) Peice of cake, just make sure that the rubber insert is in your socket

8) Hmmmmm, must do this myself :mac1:

9) Quite straight forward, just take your time when re-filling it.

HTH

Trin i'm taking my dash out next week to change the heater box due to no heat from it, wonna help ?

Have plenty of caffene ready for doing the plenum...

all though its straight forward its a bit time consuming so expect this to be the longest job ;)

Is it the big loom? I remember a mate making a bit of a hash mucking around with replacing his. Had problems getting around where it goes through the firewall. Isnt something aircon related there?

The caliper is easy enough, just a few stubborn bolts, squirt brake fluid everywhere, big muscle the mounting bolts and bobs your uncle.

The plenum removal is very fiddly but ok as b.m says, getting to some of the bolts is a nightmare. At least you're doing all the jobs at the same timethough.

Actually I'm just post whoring, havn't said anything remotely useful for you, still I feel good that I've said my bit! Dave

lol....but weve all seen your post chris:-

I would be more than gratefull if you would let me fit your plenum for you steve...I will even fit your Brembos whilst im there and I dont want anything for it as I do it for the love of Zeds

;)

Here's some more! This was the first time I'd started ripping the Zed apart and was amazed at how much had to come off just to replace the poxy rocker cover gaskets. I had an oil leak from the bell of the gearbox. Turned out it was draining from the V of the engine. The same bits come off for sparkplug changes ,I think I did mine at the same time. Wish I'd taken the boost jets off as well, two pistons went a month or two later, the boost was too high and the gauge didn't work properly. I didn't know enough at the time to worry about it. Dave

Why has that car gor RUST on the inside?

Lol, went like sh*t off a shovel till the pistons melted! God knows what boost it was as the jets were almost fully open (I didn't know till afterwards!). Rebuilt it last christmas in WW1 style conditions in a drive and a stable! No wonder the bottom end went 3 mths later. Almost stuck a new engine in it but had had enough and wanted a manual anyhow.
