UK SPEC..

Manual...5.6-6.0 secs. 0-60 mph

Auto.....7.0-7.5 secs. 0-60 mph

Top speed both the same @ 155mph (limited).

Also:

Manual...278bhp/272ftlbs torque

Auto.....263bhp/269ftlbs torque

Hi all,

Is the Irish model different to the uk one? because the figures for the Irish manual are 283bhp and 280bhp for the auto.

Regarding 0-60 figures, the brochure quotes 5.6-5.9 for the manual, and 6.1-7.5 for the auto? (WTF?)

Without trying to start a war or anything (I'm actually trying to source a 6 speed manual for my own auto Z).

but on T.T.net the general consensus is that the auto is actually faster to 100mph than the manual, and in a head to head comparison in car and driver magazine, the auto was figured at 5.9secs to 60mph and the manual at 5.6secs, and the auto beat the manual to 100mph by .2 of a second.

The only conclusion I can draw from this is that the auto box on the Z is an inconsistent performer (and my personal experience confirms this) and that on a good day it is faster than a manual, but on a bad day it has trouble keeping up with hot hatches! (although I have been told that an ALC sorts this out)

Hope this helps

Brian

what is an alc then.

annother quicky I read annother bit of info about the jwt chips(think this is correct)

some body said that it actualy improves fuel econamy! is this corect?

ALC - Automatic Line Controller, it keeps the line pressures inside the gearbox artificially high by 'fooling' the ECU into thinking they're lower than they are.. Basically it sharpens up gearchange - the HKS unit only operates at WOT however (or so I've been told..)

As for the JWT chip.. If you don't up the boost level, then theoreticallly any mod that makes your car more powerful would improve fuel economy (oh apart from injectors possibly! wink.gif) - *but* you usually *use* that extra power, so no.. you'll probably get less! Lol smile.gif

Unless you drive like a granny (or Ajay.. biggrin.gif)

PS, any reference to girls driving like old grandma's wasn't really serious, so please don't beat me up... Purrlleeeasseee biggrin.gif

The figures quoted on the US sites are for the lighter 2 seater TT model with the US 300bhp spec and different gearing. wink.gif
