Throttle pedal has been feeling a bit notchy for past few days, then yesterday it got stuck open at 1/3 throttle and would'nt release. Bit of a scary moment.

 

Tried pulling it up with my foot under pedal, going thru the gears (bearing in mind I was travelling through small residential road) before switiching ignition off and pulling over.

 

Took a look today and found the Cam cover breather pipe did'nt seem to be sitting properly in its housing and was rubbing against the throttle lingage.

 

I suggest everyone also checks theirs !

Hasnt happened to me yet (touch wood0 although I do remember when stripping off the plenum that the pipes moved?!? Hmmm, I'll be check them before going gym tonight I think........

mine sticks on occasions and has all the same symptoms at times... I was thinking it was a electrical bit.. bugger.. i am going to check... its better to be safe than sorry.

be the first thing i check as well! christ! surely this is a design fault, and after reading what happened to indianzx surely you could make a claim against nissan? i mean i just wouldnt really think thats acceptable as its fookin dangerous.

there I was thinnking it only happened to me. nearly killed myself, warped my disks, kills a fox but found out what teh probkem was when Grovesy poped round and showed me. now its a regular check on the car.

Since my previous post last year I have had this problem but just tapped it back in.

Does look like a very common problem that could have some serious consequences :o

maybe indianazx needs to contact a solicitor with this thread and then Nissan as surely its a design flaw and bloody dangerous

This happened to me a few years back but since loctite and full paint job on rocker covers they've behaved themselves.

 

I doubt Nissan would look at it or be as the cars are quite old now and should be spotted with regular maintenance.

Er yeah, I was thinking just that same thing. Might be worth him pursuing once he's slightly less fed up. At any rate, I'll be checking mine before I next start the car.

mine came loose while doing the pcv hoses. Its tie-wrapped at the moment, going to jb-weld it in at some point.

 

I posted a possible piece of functional-bling on another thread about this... rather like Smith's smaller fuse-box. If we could get someone to make one. Smithy? :)

Happened to me today while doing "slightly over 70" (ahem) on the A40 - scared the living crap out of me, but thankfully it cleared up after I went into Neutral for a while. Was contemplating cost of a new ECU when I read this thread. Just went out in the freezing cold and I've got EXACTLY the same problem. You can see the scrapes on the breather pipe where it was rubbing.

Pushed it back in and fingers crossed. Yet again the forum potentially saves me loads of dosh - thanks guys.

Please please please get something wrapped around it to stop it happening again. 5 second job with a couple of large tie wraps - do both sides...

Ha ha A common problem mine tried the same trick on me the comical bast@ard!!

Bit of loktite and a hammer did the trick!!!
