Throttle pedal has been feeling a bit notchy for past few days, then yesterday it got stuck open at 1/3 throttle and would'nt release. Bit of a scary moment.

Tried pulling it up with my foot under pedal, going thru the gears (bearing in mind I was travelling through small residential road) before switiching ignition off and pulling over.

Took a look today and found the Cam cover breather pipe did'nt seem to be sitting properly in its housing and was rubbing against the throttle lingage.

I suggest everyone also checks theirs !

bloody hell, I wrote of my zed about five years ago just after i had the engine re built I was going round a roundabout and just as i came to exit onto the dual carriageway, the next thing i know i was in the ditch,, I wonder if this was the problem because the car just accelarated all of a sudden it came form no where ,

When i had this problem - it did'nt accelerate as such, the throttle just jammed at a certain point. So it did'nt get any faster but i could'nt slow it down properly.

I would say put the clutch down and try braking, it will be harder i know but atleast you arnt fighting the engine, but i think yours is an auto?

Yeah its an auto mate ;)

TBH when it first happened it was a shock to the system and i just braked and got it to a stop and THEN realised i should of knocked it out of drive :wack: The second time it happened i whacked it into neutral and stopped it safe and sound.

There was no harm done, i was just saying it did'nt make me lose control of the vehicle it just jammed the throttle open at a certain point.

I don't think I'll ever be 100% confortable driving one of these now!

Don't be daft! Its a simple problem with an easy fix. Just check it before you even drive it and fix the problem IF its even needed.

Job done. HTH.
