Just got my ass kicked..... by a subaru?

hello all,

I know I'm getting too old for this, but I had a head to head with a Subaru RB5 (or whatever theyre called) tonight on the motorway (both cars were alongside each other at the lights and we took off from a rolling start) and the subaru simply destroyed my Z,pulling a good 10-12 car lenghts on me up to about 100mph, at which stage the Z held him and gradually started to catch him, but sanity on both our parts meant the race was called off at 120mph, and with a flash of his hazards he pulled off.

All I could see modified was an oval exhaust... what the hell happened? are Zs really that slow?

well im not sure.

I have had a few good drags with a wrx an sti and they are nowhere near me period.

 

just as a matter of interest is yours manual or auto and have you modded it at all?

An oval exhaust usually is a prodrive exhaust for the subaru boys, not sure but i think the rb5 came tweaked as standard by prodrive, but wouldnt have thought that much over standard. In fact pretty sure it was only exhaust, maybe manifold, and ecu, nothing to really up the power.

Subarus licks balls too, I think he must have got lucky.

I dont care for subarus much, they deeply offend me. hehe

They are light cars compared to the Z32's 1577Kg(approx), I belive the gearing is quite low giving good acceleration but limiting top speed.

Dunno why really, I like Surabu's Ethos (eek Greek words oh dear) - Subaru are abit mad, like Mazda and do strange things like Twin Turbocharge Estate cars. I love the GT Legacy Estate Twin Turbo but them ankle biting Imprezas I feel should be crushed by the might of the Zed. I had a tear-up with an WRX Turbo thing up the A1 last summer, ok fast of the mark but I absolutely Annialated him after 60mph. My brother looked the drivers face as we went past and onto innapropriate speeds and he says the fella looked like i'd just seduced his Grand-mother LMAO!!!

In response to warrens enquiry, my car is a bog standard (for now smile.gif ) auto. I did notice that the box didn't shift down to 1st at 20mph, and is reluctant on occasion to shift down, would an ALC sort this? does anyone have any experience with these? if you do could you tell me if they're any good?

i went in hairys car with the alc thingy and it felt very sharp.

Brian with a few mods ie chip exhaust, intake youll be able to get that little bat eyed 4x4 he he he.

Last night I was playing with a Suparu Impreza but as soon as he realized that he was about to get smoked he left off the gas.

 

Mine is an AUTO with Level 10 Torque Converter at 3000 RPMS, JWT ECU, and Triflo Exhaust.

 

Best fun I had so far it was with a badly modded VR4. That was a week ago in the city at 9:00 o clock, full of traffic.I manage to toast my brakes and at one point i reach 200Km at which he was about 10 cars behind.

After I stop at red light so we can have a race from rolling start but the stupid boy passed the red light just to be in front.

I have been in the passenger seat of an RB5 accelerating from standstill.

 

First gear....Limiter

Second Gear...Limiter

Third Gear....Limiter

 

Holy shit!! I thought, that's gotta be over 100MPH. So I look accross at the speedo as we shift into fourth gear! It reads just over 65MPH!!! Low geared or what?

 

So it accelerates quite quick low speed, but only has 2 gears left to get to 145MPH!

 

Good traction from 4WD though!
