Just got this e-mail, thought i'd give you guys a look:-

"We are hitting 95p a litre in some areas now, soon we will be faced

> with paying £1 a litre.

>

>

> This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy petrol on a certain

> day" campaign that was going around last April or May 04! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to hurt ourselves by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.

> BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read it and join in! Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace not sellers. With the price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take action.

>

> The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if

> we hit someone in the pocket by not purchasing their Petrol!

> And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. Here's the idea:

>

> For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two

> biggest oil companies (which now are one), ESSO and BP. If they are not selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.> But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Esso and BP petrol buyers.

> It's really simple to do!! Now, don't whimp out on me at this point... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!! I am sending this note to a lot of people. If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) .... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it... .. THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!! Again, all You have to do is send this to 10 people.

> That's all. (and not buy at ESSO/BP) How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!! I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE 69p a LITRE RANGE""

Use the GPS for the location when you pass a petrol station key in the prices, they are then transfered to a database and eveyone's system is updated system could then advise you on the cheapest with in your range depending on how much fuel you have at the time..Anyone interested ??

why dont we all just drive into a petrol station on the same day, fill to the top and drive off... the police wont be able to deal with the volume of calls and will therefore be powerless, the govt will see 100's of businesses will crash and then post a statement saying lower fuel prices and we'll all get a free tank of fuel :D

Probably a stupid idea :slap:

I got a better idea.... it involves the houses of parliment, 1000 men armed with rocket launchers and a good few tonnes of C4..... and an extra 200 men armed with elephant guns for prescott ;)

I dont think them citroens will stand up to much... ;)

the true price of fuel is about 20p per litre

this is known because i worked in the middle east for a while and they have no tax on their fuel

so the rest of the price of our fuel is TAX

the oil companies are not all to balim for the high prices

but the government is

This is my view too, thw Govt. are the ones to blame, we live in a modern day robin hood society, but the sheriff's got control, where the fVcks robin?

Another problem with the UK is that petrolium is not produced "in house" so it all has to be shipped from other sources inflating the cost with shipping expences etc.

The prices have risen equally as much out here in Canada and there is uproar at the moment as most of the oil for Canada is produced in house.

Its now at an all time high of 0.39p a litre.

I dont know their all complaining about. Should get them to take their gas guzzelers to UK, they wouldn't complain then!

Andy

stopping buying fuel from esso, shell, bp wont do squat. the price of fuel isnt all that bad its only risen a few pence. its the duty.

where do you think tesco,asda,jet..etc get their petrol from? the big blue and red tesco oil platforms and refineries???

what the problem is, is that rather than increasing income tax and freezing duty on fuel, (which would be the fair way) the motorist is now paying more tax than the non motorist.so does that mean a motorist has the priority on public services than the non motorist?? not very fair eh?

if the real reason for increasing the duty is to 'encourage people to use public transport to protect the environment' then fine, lets call their bluff and have 2 days where we all use a public transport system that isnt really there. and watch the country grind to a hault, both because no-one will be able to go to their work, and the revenue lost for those few days will fairly dent the chancellors wallet, seeing as its really the only place he gets money from.

it has to be done nationally or it wont work, or even if you staggered it a few days a week when EVERYBODY does it

all this piffle about not topping up cars is pointless, you dont top it up one day, so you just have to fill up the next...

this country is screwed..
