suggestions plz

Firstly I would like to wish all members (except Porker biggrin.gif) a happy new year and hope you all had a good xmas!

Secondly my sister reversed into the front of my Z today frown.gif

I have a Scarab front on SWB jap spec which is now badly smashed, also one of the front fogs is broken.

Sis has said I can claim on her insurance so what I need to know is :-

Will I be able to claim for a new 99 OEM front bumper http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/ubbforum/Forum1/HTML/004588.html as I prefer the look and the Scarab is a pain in the arse for speed humps, or will the insurance insist on a like for like replacement?

If insurance agree will Nissan automatically choose the new OEM bumber or the old one?

I believe my engine undertray was also broken at the same time wink.gif will the insurance company honour this?

and finally can I take the car to a place of my choosing or do I need to use Nelsons?

Thanks guys & gals

Martin

Is the Scarab front more expensive than the Nissan 99 one? If so you're doing the insurance co. a favour wink.gif

Undertray is quite believeable, as is damage to the headlight and the need to blow in the paintwork down both wings and bonnet.

You do not need to choose Nissan, you will probabally be asked to get several quotes for repairs and the won't expect all Nissan dealers.

Sorry bout the ding, pleased that I don't have a sister wink.gif

Hello Martin and a merry xmas to you too.

I've changed my front bumper to a Scarab when it got damaged in a accident and just got the garage to not specify the manufacter on his invoice to the insurance company. If your garage just states "front bumper for Nissan 300zx", then there should not be a problem. If you are fully comp, then you have the right to choose where your car goes to be repaired. The only thing I would say is make sure you use someone who you know will do a good job. I got stung by a shit bodyshop once who I chose to do the work and the insurance company still paid them even though they did some really shit work.

You can also claim for the undertray as you can tell them it's connected to the bumper and it's broke where it's joined.

Im not being funny or ote mate, but didnt the force of the impact push back the exhaust causing those lovely GReddy twin 5"ers to buckle. And what a fucker about ripple through the locality that made the TV fall off its stand and into a bath full of water.

Should be quite a creative claim LOL

Sorry to hear in all seriousness.

Get what u can out of em!!

:)

Hi Martin, Happy new year to you also, not

wishing to piss on your bonfire, but does your insurance company know about the scarab bumper? might be a way of them trying to stiff you on your claim, undeclared mod etc.

Usually insurance companies will only replace

damaged parts with "standard" replacements,

this might give you the chance to put on the

99 standard bumper anyway?

thanks ppl. I actually believe the OEM is more expensive but it looks like I will be able to get away with it.
