true, when i first got the car i tried it out a few times, and no matter what car you are in when you get to a certain speed the thought of "what happens if i get a blow out now" goes thru your head so i slowed down. I now normally drive my car on 0.5 bar boost as im a tight arse saving fuel lol.

I got my car when I was 20. NOt has a crash, not been done for speeding either ;)

hey srrae hows trix m8 hope you are keepin well

Aye not bad. Not had time to get online, been busy taking my engine apart again ;)

all I can say is That the police do a course every so often on driving skills awareness etc

they also do the same for motorbikes...

for both the above you go there thinking your the man and everyone else is ****

BIG MISTAKE!

get prepared to feel like a TWAT!

people who are smart asses in powerful cars will most likey die or kill others and they wont be appreciating its power then..

ALSO BIG NOTE IF A CAR WITH A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF POWER STARTS TO GO OUT OF CONTROL at a bit Of speed! Forget all this shit about counter steering and taking your foot of the brake **** you may aswell start :hurl:

Its not always the young drivers with the fast/powerful cars that are the problems its usually the ones with the slow and underpowered cars that cause the problems. Ive had a 2ltr coupe since I was 17, ok ive had 2 accidents (im nearly 21), but not due to me driving fast or dangerously, my last coupe was running 220bhp (with NOS) and I crashed that down a country lane on a blind bend on oily roads.

But in the past 3 years i find that the ones with the 1.2 clios and corsa's and Novas are the ones that drive like loonies, as they somehow seem to have to prove something. One kid i know has a 1.2 clio and he drives like a nutter, he once got caught doing 80 in a 30 zone and got let off.

Also, the ones in smaller cars seem to want to push you to race on the roads (which really pi$$es me off) as i dont see the point of racing. So now when i get twats that drive up my arse on the road i just slow down

I dont need to drive fast to prove that I have a powerful car i know that I have a powerful car, and im not about to take a chance racing around to lose my licence, my car or even someones life. theres no point in it.

Thats just my view on it all anyway.

MANY years ago I got rid of my old CBR600 and got hold of a de-restricted ZZR-1100. Was on the M3 (before GATSO's had ever been heard of) and maxed it out. Now the CBR600 was no slouch, and would do about 140mph at the top end on a good day (it was the original FH model) but the ZZR was off the clock at 220mph (probably a real 185-190mph) Way off in the distance a car pulled out into lane 3 to overtake, and was probably doing about 90mph, but I was doing 100mph FASTER. The difference in speed was astounding, even though he was probably a mile ahead of me when he did it (can't blame him for that) I was up his arse in no time and could not believe how hard I had to brake to avoid crashing into the back of it  a real brown trouser moment as you are not so much in control of the bike at 190mph as hanging on for dear life!

As most youngsters, I thought I was bloody good on a bike. I could keep up with or pass most of my mates, and very little or anything used to ever overtake me. After that moment I realised what real speed is all about, and it was a real eye-opener! If that guy had pulled out to overtake when I was half a mile behind him, he still would have thought he was safe to do so but I would have gone though his rear window and out of his windcreen in the blink of an eye.... AND IT WOULD HAVE BEEN MY FAULT! :slap:

I've spoken to Indian ZX (says he's 21 on here but I'm sure he said he was 19), and he says that he is an excellent driver blah blah blah. I hope he is, or at least when he has his 'learning moment' he gets away with it like I did.

If you've never done it you do NOT know. Save it for the track.

thas cos you drive like a pensioner

There is no getting away from the fact that if you drive fast it will go wrong and you will crash at some point.

I drive my Z fast, that's why I bought one.

I have lost control at speed many times, some of those times have been OK one of those times ended up with the back end all messy - I keep it that way to remind me (and cos it will cost a fortune to fix).

The Z is a big heavy car that spins very easily - you may catch it one way but it really bites back hard the other way.

Life is about choices - you have to make your own

on a blind bend on oily roads.

This is one thing that winds me up, and SteveyC i'm not having a pop at you personally as this may well have been the case for you... but ever notice how anyone who has a smash always blames 'diesel' on the road?????

I crashed on a bend, but there wasn't any diesel......I was going to fast!!!

same here.............................but it was damp and greasy  :p

Well that wasnt very clever was it, its more impressive to oversteer and miss the fence!!

Amatuer!

I have been looking where im going and so have been able to avoid such mishaps so far...but unless you do 15mph on every corner you can still come a cropper.

Unfortunately if you do a lot of miles this is a regular occurance...

Its more common to find diesel on the road....but the oil is the worst...(yes i know diesel is a type of oil) especially after a long straight where people stop thrashing the motor and the engine lets go....

I have experienced this many a time and everytime i think to myself...

Why the feck did the tosspot that fookin left it there or overfill their tanks not come back and clean the sh1t of the road instead of leavin it there for some other poor fooker to find and crash on...their attitude is like

"its not my problem now...i want to get home for dinner"...Feck1n to55pot5

Hope that Helps...lol

Sounds like my pants :hurl: :slap:

Thats ok none taken, i know alot of people blame it on bad road conditions, and the road that I crashed down is notorious for bad conditions aparently, i had never been down the road before, but aparently alot of trucks, and artics use the road constantly. I had an accident down it one week and someone did exactly the same the next week , went round the bend, the wheels hit the curb and launched me into a concrete fence, really bad expericen, plus the fact i cant remember actually going down the road or having the crash (i was unconsious (sp?)) i was lucky to have a friend in the car who was able to phone an ambulance for me, he luckily came out of the car fine. Its a real eye opener when you have a crash, and it taught me to be more careful down roads that i dont know. I worked out that I lost about £7000 on my coupe, and i sure didnt spend all that money on it to drive like a nutter and crash it.

Now that Ive got my Zed im extra careful knowing how powerful the car is. I dont want to go through an experience like that again.

Steve

When I was 19 I bought an Astra GTE 2.0. That was way back in 1989 and the car was only 6 months old.

I tried to keep things sensible as a nearly new car like that cost me a fair few pennies, especially for a 19 year old but luckily insurance costs hadn't gone silly quite yet.

I also got carried away a couple of times and had a few near misses, like racing an RS Turbo at almost 130mph on the A12. I was in lane 3, the Rusty Turbo in lane 2. suddenly a van pulls from a slip road straight into lane 2 so rather than brake or swerve back into lane 1  the dagenham dustbin driver just veers into lane 3 in front of me at a good 20mph less  Too close for comfort.....

But I still wrecked the Astra after a couple of months. I was driving sensibly at 60 (national speed limit a road). I went round a sweeping bend only to see (another  ) RS Turbo on the wrong side of the road coming towards me. I just swerved towards the roadside, lost it hit a ridge and launched the car into a patch of trees, whilst sliding out of control upside down.

Luckily I walked away without a scratch

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
