its nowt to do with weight of course it weighs a bit but the more important thing is the air con rad sits in front of radiator which obviously restricts airflow to the main radiator! with air con removed the main rad will get more air to it reducing running temps by several degrees!and free up a small amount of power, and you never need to replace the belt for a/c :p

Dont forget the air con compressor weighs a fair bit too, and the bracket that holds it on :D

so.........how do i do it? lol

remove all the bits!!

reclaim all gas (if still in it!)

remove the compressor

remove the reciever/drier, condensor & all pipework

remove the evaporator with expansion valve

you could even remove the wires from the loom to the switches & compressor clutch to save anothe 1/2 oz!! :D

the rear bolt is a fiddle at the best of times 14mm spanner, but you will need a thin one could always take your spanner to the grinder

once pipes are removed and gas removed IIRC you have 2 14mm bolts underside which will need to be acessed underneath car!

radiator removed is always a good idea then you have the ones your asking for one at the front and 1 at the rear, once there removed then your left with the pulley and bracket 3x14mm bolts and 1x12mm at the front, then bracket can be removed!
