Would you have one?

They're not cheap but I guess they'll be less in a few years.

I bet they're fast, handle and don't cost too much to run.

Anyone know much about them? Got any performance specs?

There not as good as the old ones from what i have heard. there is a company called Karma Imports in bristol that has a modified one, i kicked its arse a few weeks back LOL :)

Honda Integra Type R (DC5)

Engine: 2.0 inline 4 naturally aspirated DOHC, 220 bhp @ 8300 rpm, 200 Nm @ 6000 rpm

Hmmm.. not THAT quick. My old 200SX S13 did 0-60 in about that and it was less powerful and probably heavier.

Still, bet it handles well.

From what I hear the Integra(s) are pretty much the best handling front wheel drive cars you can buy. Apparently the DC5 version is a lot easier to live with than the previous generation and handles just as well. Although I also hear these new I-Vtecs' don't have the sudden change in valve actuation when you hit 6500 and as such aren't quite as exciting.

But why would you want front wheel drive ?

A skill-less numpty like me can go faster in it - especially in the wet.

I'm not sure I want one anyway - just thinking. Tomorrow I'll probably want somethng else!

just goes to show how engine development has come on, 220 bhp from a 2.0 NA is pretty good.

There was one of these at the Mascrat Manor meet a couple of months back.

Very nice looking car but not sure I'd buy one.

I still think the japs are better off puttin bike engines in cars suzuki hyabusa or summat caus all these custom jobs are fast as fook and sound incredible revvin to 14,000rpm make the car outta carbon and whoosh 0-60 what do you think 4secs ????

They're ok but if you like any kind of comfort or anything other than bog standard then it's not for you.

Road noise in the Teg's is horrible.

First Gen CTR, 185BHP 1.6 NA. I do remember another car manufactorer who managed to get 195BHP or something around that mark from a NA, it was either a Nissan or a Mazda. Personally I wouldnt mind having one. I was thinking of getting the DC2 until I saw how much the price was for one...

I swear the I-VTEC hits in at around 5600 while the old VTEC hits in around the 6200 mark. They only did that to smoothen out the torque curve. Personally I quite like the VTEC kick! :smash:

If I remember it right Spoon Sports EK9 CTR rev'd to around 11k mark.

I'm a fan of Honda engines. Very refined and reliable. Gonna have to get myself an NSX then I guess! Dave

many wont agree with this but I really dislike the Honda vtec engines. I had a Civic 1.8i Vtec company car for a while, and hated the engine. S-l-o-w until just over 6k revs, then like a rocket till about 8.5k

Kind of like a reeeeaaaalllllly laggy Turbo with a small powerband. You had to keep the revs up really high and mess around with the gears constantly to get anywhere fast.

They're lovely. I was actually thinking of getting one before I rekindled my adolescent obsession with the zed. What put me off mainly was the price tag - I could think of loads of better ways to spend the money. This was probably about a year ago when I knew absolutely nothing about how cars actually work. Now I know a bit more, assuming I had the money, I still wouldn't get one (although I do think they look great) because it's front-wheel drive, and... well, rear-wheel drive is just more fun. Just IMHO of course.
