Rear lights not working

Went to go out in my car switched the lights on and the fuse blew.

replaced the fuse and investigated, noticed i had no back lights.

the live wire to the drivers side light was also getting very hot. i disconnected this and the passenger rear lights then came on.

i guess there is a short somehwere. any idea's

Just a thought look into the rear right hand wing for the little black box about the size of a penquin bar, i had the same trouble as you, looked for the prob for weeks till Jeff  said it might be the relay in the back :D which it was :D

Only guessing though...

Try removing the bulbs, fit a new fuse, put the lights on and add the bulbs one by one. At least you might be able to narrow the fault down that way if there isnt anything obvious.

light unit was removed and replaced, but cant see wht i would have done. the indicators still work. just weird that the live wire was getting really hot.

it could be one of the bulbs has sort off blown, if the filament breaks on the one end and touches further down it's electrode you will have probs as it trys to draw a lot more current check your bulbs then replace them one at a time
