Alloys and insurance inspection

Hi,

I don't know if any members remember but my car got splashed in acid a few weeks ago and I am going to have an insurance inspector come round to inspect the car soon.

My problem is that I have non standard alloys on the car will this potentially cause a problem with the insurer? Also are there any members in the London area with a standard set of wheels and tyres that I could swap over for a couple of days for an appropriate fee.

Cheers

Mark

If the slimey little maggots (insurers) are sending out one of their paid fuckwits (loss adjuster) to view your damage you bet they will try an wiggle out of paying if they can.

If your Zed is sat on fat 18's then even the most clueless dick-head loss assessor will notice and maybe try and invalidate your insurance.

Say you have just fitted them and as the car is off the road you need not declare them.

In fact ring up and declare em now, they shouldnt load the premium too much.

Sorry for the swearing but I hate insurance companies thru and thru.

Good Luck

:)

yeah Mark, I have. The tyres aint got that much tread on them, but they'll do the job.

No fee needed, just collect them and then bring them back.

I'm in NW london by the way.

Or stick the car on axle stands and when he asks just say your getting the alloys re-furbished while its off the road

I have a set you could use. I'm in Near Harlow in Essex, should that be any nearer than Vijay.

Hi guys,

thanks for all the advice and offers of help, I might give Glens idea a go and see what happens.

Technically they can repudiate the claim on the basis of non-disclosure but given its just alloys they are highly unlikely to enforce it.

What they can do is say that had they been declared they would have required additional premium and deduct it from the claim.

If you phone up now and declare it - they may ask for recepits and then you've been caught anyway.

If the loss adjuster Q's you on them you can act dumb and say they came with the car and you werent aware of the insurance implications, then you can argue that it was inadvertant non-disclosure (it wasn't intentional).

To save the worry it would be better to get them switched, but if not I wouldnt be overly concerned

Unless you also modded up to the hilt!!!!!!
