how unpopular am I gona be, fookit here goes.

For thoes of you that know, I have been steadily building my car for over 2 years. In this time there has been little to nothing that has not needed minor, or major modification to get it to fit. Tell A lie there was a few things that went strait on. The Battery Clamp and the brake master cylender brace... er what else?

Anyway I thought I would have a bit of a moan in general, this isnt directed at any specific manufacturer, just all of em.

Im sick of things not fitting properly. Last straw was my bodykit which the sides, front and rear was bought from Japan and the wings from Luke. In fairness to Luke he has been helpfull wich I will give him a pat on the back for, but nothing fits, its all got gaps all over the place and needs to be hashed up, cut or both. There is a gap between the headlight and the front bomper and side wing that i can get my thumb into, the stock bits didnt sit this high. And dont get me started on teh sideskirts and the rear end. Here I am spending Upwards of £k ona kit and paint job which is going to have inperfections all over it and there is fook all i can do about it.

Its not just the kits, almost every part I have bought for this car as, just fits on, has needed modification to fit. In many cases I have had to buy another part so the 1st part can fit. Ive had breakages, people telling me I dont know what I am talking about, only to find out I am in fact correct and had parts replaced, money returned all that crap.

I thnk its about bloody time the makers of parts we buy make fooking sure they go on, hell we pay enough for them and in my case it ends up with it costing me more to get them sorted. Id rather pay the extra and know its going to go on perfect everybloody time.

I shouldnt be having to elongate bolt holes, they should be already done if they need doing.

I shouldnt be having to cut fook all

I shouldnt need to have to buy something else, it shoul go on like it says on the box.

So my message to all manufacturers, please please get it right 1st time, we dont need this hassle and I am no longer willing to pay for parts that dont fit 1st go.

Oh there has been 1 exception to the overall rule. anything with Greddy, SPL or Powertrix went strait on, worked 1st time and is still working.

Sory for the rant, but ive pent 12K on parts and at least another 3K getting them to fit, so you can see where I am comming from.

If I had to give advice to anyone purchasing a item I would say this, make sure its from a major manufacturer and not a copy. Make sure it aint fiber-poxy-glass. Cheap normaly guarentees its crap, and expencive isnt a guarentee either, just its got more chance of fitting 1st time, but only by a little.

Comeon guys. make beter quility or at least supply it ffs

I just had an idea.

How about we, as customers give a review of every bit of kit we got.

Say ease of fitting, how well it works etc?

I agree entirely but I guess the problem is that over 15 years the cars warp and distort and the manufacturers of non OEM parts probably design off either original spec dimensions or even off the nearest car they have access to and hence the problems we encounter.

I can understand the warping and distorting. But ive had things made of metal that dont have the bolt holes in the corect place and Ive gone and got stock parts that go strait on. In a couple of cases these didnt because they where differnt as mines an early moddle.

Strange, fortunately I haven't experienced such problems to date but i'm sure my time will come! It would be nice to go somewhere, albeit pay more, but get a custom made custom fit item!

it would be nice to just get something to fit.

Too many copies of copies etc ! just take a look at the crap fitting of most of the aftermarket front bumpers - terrible ...

Oh Dont I know it now.

Easy way to avoid most probs is DONT BUY FIBERGLASS

mate to true

the best bit of kit Ive bought for my Z was the carbon dash kit from KYNU in america excellent custmoer service and fits damn bloody good considering its not a proper nissan part..

and it only cost 60 quid I say only because what else could you get for 60 quid on a Z...

My GReddy/Scarab fibreglass front bumper had to be seriously modified to fit, and its still got fairly large gaps!!

Polyurathane (sp) all the way next time!!

One reason (other than a spoiler and some small odds and sods) my car remains standard looking.

Have seen some appaling fibreglass rabbit hutches fitted to cars and the fit is not even worth bothering with. Dreadful.

There I was thinking I was all alone with my oppinions

In all honesty it depends who's made the fibreglass item in question mate.

I recently spent almost a grand buying a non-300zx specific fibreglass kit to be customised onto my Zed. Although I couldn't gauge how well it fitted, being made as it was for another car, the quality of the finish was astounding. It was lightweight, with no ripples or imperfections in the hand layed FG and they'd even bothered to retro-fit return flanges. The company in question: Veilside. And it was an original not a copy.

Without going into specifics it really does matter where you buy your kit/parts from. A copy might be cheaper (and unfortunately sometimes the only option if the manufacturer has stopped making the original) but unless it's done well it can bring you a whole heap of trouble. Reading about your fitment problems, I know you're far from on your own in experiencing difficulties mate :x: Hope you get it sorted ok :)

Leigh.

Had to remove AIV's to get wings to line up properly, yet another job.

99spec bumper straight on no probs

veilside genuine skirts straight on no probs

any copy from luke or anyone wil need to be fooked around with

Oh NOW you tell me.
