I cant seem to build up any pressure to check for leaks, roughly how long would i need to be stood their pumping air into the car to get enough pressure?

Mate, still can't see how these work,as if all the valves aint shut, surely pressure is going straight through the cylinder?-I know Vinz said this happened when he used his!

reading previous posts i noticed something about turning over the engine beforehand without starting it.

how do i do that? what do i have to disconnect so it doesnt fire up into life as normal?

You could pull the ptu/cas plugs off,but getting the valves to be all closed........ummmm,I don't think so.

But that would only matter if both the inlet and exhaust valve were open, right ? I can't remember what the valve overlap is so I'm sure it can be a problem on occasion, but it worked fine for me. Pressuring with a proper compressor make it a lot quicker and easier though ...

what psi do i need to go upto? may i should use my electric pump and not a manual on.

Dont go over 3-4 psi. You are applying pressure to the wrong side where the pressure usually occurs.

Any leak that would be heard after 3-4 psi is so small its not worth worrying about.

:o I also get this when trying to pressurise the system it just sounds like its going straight through the engine and doesn't build up any pressure at all !

Any ideas if the engine needs to be rotated into a certain position i.e. tdc before commencing to pressurise it ?

you have to use a compressor really, the volume of air required is so large, that its hard to build up pressure with a foot pump.

never had any bother with the valves tho.

I agree. Also, one of my (many) boost leaks was so large that virtually no pressure built up until I fixed it.

get one like mine - got a regulator which plugs into a compressor :D
