Can anyone recommend a decent low cost (hmm... I'll be wanting the best of both worlds, then!) trolley jack that can squeeze itself under a zed which has been lowered by up to 35mm?

eerrmmm

Not sure if any decent jack will fit under staright away without the need for a little lifting first.

I got a low reach one from halfords...bout £35...cant remember the lowest level it went to...can find out l8er..unless its listed on their website.

I use the little ally jack that comes with the car to get it up the first few inches ;)

I think most of us have had that problem............. Getting it up!! :x: But once it's up, it can go up very well :D

 I didn't realise you could use one of those for that!! Still, I suppose it's cheaper than a pump - I'll go take a look myself!!!

lol @ Dave

just had a look on their site and the one i got isnt listed.

It was a 2.5t jack...a flat version and not the arched ones shown...

Although the ones shown say "lifting range 14-38cm"

but that is the point on the end and the design of the jack means you cant get it all the under to reach the jacking point on the main beam before the body of the jack hits it :(

just buy a big strong one that'll give you enough room for your stands and drive the car onto bricks before lifting, simple

Cheers guys!

Lots of options - think I'll give the cost-free brick or Blackmagics 'pump-jack' ideas a go first!!
