me bros got a 300zx twin turbo. british. not sure of reg.

but it started leaking oil over his alternator. so hes stripped the engine down so he could see were it was coming from. took the head over that side of the car of to see if it helped. and thought it was coming form a head bolt.

then had the head from that side skimmed. new head gasket, new bolts. put it back together and its still leaking. only do's it when hot. what are his chance's of having a cracked block. hes had the car for about 8 months and drove it for about two weeks from the day he bought it. its had a new rad witch he noticed. but the engine was clean as a whistle.

he's climbing up the wall's over this car now.

can anyone help this poor little lemon bying brother of mine.

help and advice take with thank's from my brother...

Above the alternator tends to suggest dripping down behind the backing plate where the cam seals are, also try checking a cam wheel for any play, i assume he stripped down to this area when the head was taken off?

smithy

thanks smithy for the help. i shouldnt realy be on hear as i own a rover 220 turbo coupe. just me kid brothers not on the net.

and i think he's had everything out of the head that neaded to be taken of for skimming. ask him tomorrow and post back. thanks smithy.

smithy me bro said the oil seems to be coming from the cam seals and not from were i did come from. how much oil would be the amount from the seals.

would it be slight or like a river when running. plus his water pump gave up the goast. and he thinks he traveled about five miles to his mates and back, witch makes 10 in total. he would like to no with no loss of water would there be any damage if at all. hes getting a new pump from nissan for 68 quid.

but hes more worried about the oil for now. so we will stick at this for the time being. how far should the seals be in from the edge of the head. if you no could you let me no as hes not to sure and he thinks he may have done damage to them. but will bye more just to be safe.

thanks mate. and ill keep you posterd on the matter.

speccy...... like help from peaple in the know .......

o smithy last thing before i forget about it.

how can he get the rear stearing turned of or to stop working as he hates it.

he side slapped the drivers side after having it for fifteen minutes.

and recked the two wheels at the same time. so its got to go.

and thanks again for the help.

speccy....... wish this was my cars as i'll end up nowing how it works. ......

more than me brother.

If its leaking on the alternator at the front as smithy says the cam seals are likely but surely if hes had the engine out heads off he would see where the oil has leaked sounds a bit daft to just replce 1 gasket rather than doing both heads whilst your at it,could be the cam idler spring and o-ring,could remove timing belt covers re-fit water pipes etc the start her up see if there is any traces of oil from the front

if your reffering to the back of the engine then the cam seals shaped like a half cresent sit flush with head and cam cover

sorry lads but the engine was never taken off, he just took the head off.

thanks for the help. and it was a oil seal that was at fault.

it now works fine. of sorts. the hicas lights on and the diff oil light is too.

before the head work they never came on so why now.

any help mutch apreciated. sorry for the spelling. not a strong point.

speccy...... ill get him there in the end ......
