howdy peeps, got a bit of a problem!

 

dropped a mate off at stanstead airport yesterday afternoon, started overheating about 7 or 8 miles before i got there.

 

by the time i arrived it was making a rattling noise and smoking some.

 

when it finally cooled it wouldnt start, very juddery when turning over and the water smelt of oil.

 

gonna go back when i can get hold of my mates trailer and get it home -

 

if it is head gasket, (pretty sure it is), what parts will i need to replace (gather ill need lots of gaskets and stuff for the plenum??), and is there anything else i should be doing at the same time???

 

i can leave it in a barn at the top of the farm so times not a problem.

 

thanks for your help peeps, esp mark and steve!! (topless and blackmagic), spoke to mark on the phone yesterday and he stayed on the line trying to help till his battery ran out, and steve spent a good half hour on the phone (inbetween tunnels!) trying to give me some more pointers!

Sounds like you got it pretty hot, which is not a good thing. Have a good look for other damage and dont just assume its a head gasket only. I dont know if Z'z warp the heads but you could check. And make sure it spins over nicley (sort of) before you just do head gaskets. Hate you to do the haeds just to find there is more.

I have heard that Zs heads can warp and people are always warned about it, but I have yet to hear of an unfortunate sole on here whos Heads have warpped
