my hicas light keeps comming on i have cheacked the fluid level and that is ok it goes of when u start it on my drive then after about 8 seconds it comes on if i turn the engine off while im moving then back on again it stays off for about 10 min then comes back on any idears

If you have a JAP, it could be the speedo conversion kit. Had this plus PAS failure which would all be OK for 5 to 10 mins after starting.

mine is a uk tt i have found that if you start the car with the steering wheel in the center the light stays off and you can turn it all the way right but it is when you turn the wheel a quarter of a turn from center left the hicas warning light comes on

 

i have tried doing the hicas self diagnostic test start engin turn wheel 5 times pres brake 5 times within 10 sec etc.......

 

with now joy wheels dont move at all and when move forward slowly the light doesnt flash

I seem to remember reading something about looking at the rear whells as you turn on the ignition.

 

If the wheels give a little wiggle, then something is not working right but I cant remember if it is as simple as being a sensor.

 

Let me try and find out unless one of our professionals on the site can shed any light on what I am babbling on about.
