More fun and games at SE

Just to recap, I took my Z to SE a month ago. It was running really crap, chucking out loads of oil, very low compression etc. After a week I got a call telling me that the engine had to come out and be rebuilt. I told them to go ahead with it.

I had a call this weekend giving me an update:

1. The engine had been rebuilt recently but not put together right hence the problems.

2. The heads needed skimming and valve seats re-cut.

3. Broken piston rings found and some damage to cylinders.

4. A few new valves would be needed.

5. Turbos stripped and found to be ok.

Ok I said but when will it be ready “well that’s the problem” they said “our engine man has just left the company and a new man will be starting in mid- January, it should be put back together by the end of January” frown.gif

Who rebuilt it before ?

I know it's a bummer that it won't be ready for a while, but it's good that they're waiting for the right guy to put it back together - rather than let the tea boy have a go ....

The car developed the faults just after I bought it, nothing in the service history to indicate any previous engine rebuild but SE say that it was very ckean inside.

I agree that It's worth waiting for the right person to re-build the engine but I was hoping to get someone with a lot of experiance working on Z's but now it's anybodys guess what the new guy has done befor.

Dont worry Steve, when its ready it will be 100%,ask Timmy what his was like when he picked his up wink.gif.Worth the waite MAKE NO MISTAKE!

Excuse me for interrupting on this site, but my better half has just had his engine re-built by SE, and waited a while due to his own request, but it was well worth it, did a superb job. Go with the flow and the wait, it will pay in the end.

SE did a top job on my car, managed to sort what other Muppets couldn't!!! wink.gif

You don't want to drive your Z in January anyway in all that salt and spray. I concur with the views expressed above. You never know Pete R may end up doing it himself.
