Cars been running rough since having the pre-cats gutted.

When you disconnect the drivers side o2 sensor the car runs much better but not perfect.

I've done an ECU test on both sensors and they seem to check out ok.

Any ideas anyone? Is the sensor fooked or am i barking up the wrong tree.

(or am i just barking)

you can check the O2 sensors are working with either a Conzult or going into ECU diagnostic mode 2 (check the online manual)

Done both of these.

All checks out ok.

Code 55 on ecu.

i just disconnected my o2 sensor cause it was playing up and it runs much better now, can i leave it disconected??

it was showing jumping all over the place on conzult recently....

thats what the 02 sensors should do mate!!! if they become lazy then on the conzult the are very slow moving and when knackered completely they wont move at all. So the fact they are up and down is exactly what u want !!

yeah it was one or the other because there were two and one was all over the place where as the other wasn't, i couldnt remember which was faulty so thanx for clearing that up, but should i leave it disconnected if it functions better??

ooh, ooh, this is quite relevant for me too! steve put his conzult on me zed at jae, apparently my left o2 sensor is lazy, so the right one is compensating for it - how hard are they to replace - is there anything else that can/should be done at the same time?

also had an error code - believe it was 53? overheating 18 starts ago or similar?

mark (topless) said my water temp sensor was loose and needed replacing.

could all this be causing safety boost?

ta muchly!!

sorry for hijacking!

colincatchpole- whether or not it's the O2 sensor, bear in mind that by removing the O2 feedback you'll just be masking the problem! So it might be smoother but it's still not going to be right. Got a similar situation myself...

Not sure if the engine will run rich or lean without the O2 sensor- you'd hope it would run rich.

Glad you got the Conzult working. I forgot about it afterwards.

A Loose Temp sensor connector will cause safey mode, yes.

Code 53 is The (Right hand) O2 Sensor is open or shorted (abnormally high or low voltage is registered).

Ideally You'll need an O2 sensor removal tool/socket, and they can be reached on a long ratchet extension down either side of the engine bay. They are mounted on the Downpipe Elbow coming out of the Turbo's.

I've been told that mine is the 1st motion shaft in the gearbox is worn.

Bugger.

Damn.

Wrong thread.

How did that happen!

What i need to know is what my problem is.

Done so far:

All new loom connectors,

Re-honed bores and piston rings,

Both o2 sensors replaced,

Both PCV valves replaced,

Boost leak test ok,

Code 55 on ECU,

Ptu dissassembled and connections checked.

Had it on a consult although i wasn't allowed to watch. No reported probs.

Car starts fine and cruises fine. It only sods about with the engine under load and the odd miss when idling. When accelerating the engine is all over the place.

I'm wondering if theirs a break in the wiring loom somewhere.

All ideas greatfully received.

Thanks in advance
