Should I be getting any noise from my tubs? I only get a real noticeable whistle on wind up, even gentle acceleration when cold and then that's only heard for about a minute or two.

Any help please? I need to know whether people think they make be failing as a new exhaust is iminent and the possibility of a decat.

No. None fitted. Also it's an auto so I wondered if the smaller tubs was a factor.

You shouldnt really be getting any noise then, best thing is take it to a garage or someone who knows about the Z and ask them to take a listen.

Is it normal to hear the turbos whistle slightly when the boost has been increased? ive got a boost controller and when cold i can hear mine whistle slightly.

IIRC theyre not supposed to whistle at all - usually indicating a small leak somewhere. sounds damn good tho eh? ;)

i loved the sund but when i found the leak and repaired it the power i was losing was unbeliveable  . nice noise but rather the kick

Yeah, mine is only when it is cold. I'm hoping it nothing to worry about.

Its probably a leak on one of the manifolds...

I have a badly sealed manifold on the drivers side and can hear this whistle when its cold....once its warmed up it goes as obviously it all expands with heat and seals any leaks....

What about oil circulation? If you're working the tubs when cold then you won't be getting nice, warm oil round them. Once the oil's heated up and thinner it'll get to the parts that, er, cold oil can't reach :D

The only times I've ever had whistle are when having to boot it with a cold engine (pulled out of a blind-ish T-junction, nutter comes charging round the corner).

Just my 2p :)

Slight whistle when cold and on boost is not unusual prolly due to higher cold air density and not really a problem. Anyway you shouldnt be pushing it till its warmed up! Mine has always done it and I've had it 5 years.

More reassurring, as it does this only when cold, not even booting it but completely dies down after a couple of minutes. I may get someone to have a look at it when the oil is changed.

How did you get on with this, heard a few whistles from mine today though it wasn't up to full temp at that point.

Cheers
