Hi guys, looking for some guidance please. I had a 3 door Sierra Cosworth for 8 years and sold it 2 years ago. Miss having a toy and was contemplating a 300zx. However, they seem like a lot of work to keep on the road. Is there a decent garage in the Glasgow / West coast of Scotland area that caters for servicing/repairs of these cars? Or is most of the day to day work within the means of a reasonably competent do it yourself guy.

I know they look, sound and drive great, but don't want to be stuck with a car I can't get fixed. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

edit:- What I mean is buy one off someone on here who is an enthusiast and loves the car. That way its had what it needs done. If you get one off a random person on ebay (dont!) you can have a nightmare. If you get one off here you'll have the best drive of your life and hopefully will only need ot do maintainance type work that you can do yourself. Theres so much knowledge on the forums that you can always find the answer.

Dave

You need to be a very wise/very lucky buyer to get one that doesnt require work of some kind.

Thats rite dont scare him too much!

Hello mate, welcome to the forum. The engines can be fiddley as the room is limited to work in. I consider myself to be an okish home mechanic (oil changes, brakes ect) and I found working on the Zed quite easy. The best bit is there is soooo much help on here to point you in the right direction when you need it or get stuck.

Only times my one went into a garage to have things done were for things I would not attempt on any car myself (gearbox change ect)

Have a read about the forum and hope that helps.

The bset advise I can give you mate is to keep an eye on this forum for a while and see whats cooking. We do have some Scotts on the site so there must be a garage up your way?

Most members have another cars anyway. Its all a matter of opinion really.

Hi JR

I'm on the east coast just north of Dundee my mates TT UK may be up for sale it's needing a few things to finish it for the MOT. It's the one on the right in the pic below. I had an RS500 as well the Zed is a far better car I think handles alot better and "Doesn't try to kill you all the time"

Craig

is it just me or do you have UK spec rear wheels on the fromt of your car craig?

The motor on the right did have the wheels on the wrong way round if thats what you mean. It didn't half handle funny :) My cars (KKO 1V) got the big ones on the back.

Craig

Whoops ,sorry didn't mean it to sound like that! looking at it now it sounds very short and negative . Strongly advise trying to get one off here though JR as they've been loved then. Best thing I ever did was buy a Zed. First one I bought privately and had a nightmare. I've now got one off of a forum member and its absolutely prestine, great to drive, feels like a car worth 10 or twenty times the value. Once you get one you wont be able to go back to a normal car.

See! that sounds better! look: ohhhhhh ahhhhhh

ps I feel silly now

pps red ones go faster, I know I had a black one!

lol bet it did drive funny. both cars look nice mate. worked out your was the other one, should have read the thread properly lol

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll have a look at what's happening on the forum as suggested. I'm loathe to paying out for another cossie which will have high miles and have been booted all it's life, when for similar money I can buy a zed.

try mark at the garage in wishaw

cant find his address or phone no

but it should be in the local phonebook

hes a top guy and will keep you right

bye now
