One of the guys at today's meet, has decatted his car a few weeks ago, all has been fine untill today.

He checked the oil level on wednesday, and it was half way between the 2 marks, and no oil was added then.

He drove must be 50 miles to the meet today, no problem, then we ragged the cars for a good 20 miles, again all was fine.

Stopped for some food, and when we went to leave, the rifht (drivers) bank was smoking quite a lot, it smoked for a while, we topped the oil up, approx 1-11/2ltr, and again started it, smoke was visable for a while, and disappeared after a minutes driving.

we stopped again after a few mins, and had a drink, and since then, the car has not smoked nor has it used any oil.

It is aslo it seems, running safety boost, but this was due to the hot weather we believe.

Any ideas, cause my feelings were turbo seals, but now it seems to be fine again, we are all puzzled.

the car is a manual TT, unsure of miles, but 1 new tub, and 1 recon tub was fitted in 2002 according to his paperwork

Anyone ?

Did some hard cornering ?

The smoke might have been caused by oil that was sucked into the plenum through the PCV's

ps Go for it

Cheers Dave. i read a similar thread (prob the same one) and it came to the same conclusion - the vast majority hadnt had problems and that if decatting had caused your rear seals to fook then they were almost fooked anyways.

p.s. :hyper:

this has been posted a few times and everyone keeps saying that decating a zed on standerd tubs is not a very good idea!!!!

i have a new set of de-cats to go on at xmas when i get my new stage 2 turbos get fitted but risk of decating now is to high to blow the seals

sounds like the seals have gone or are going????

this gets madder, his car is now running fine, no smoke at all ???????

got us baffled this one lol

not that takes much

Check the pcv`s bud
