Hello,

I want to change my exhaust by one I will do myself. But my question is do I need to keep that H (or X) pipe ? or can I do two line with no communication ?

What is the H pipe for?

Thanks a lot

Most (all?) aftermarket exhausts don't have the X pipe. It appears to reduce noise slightly by evening out the pulses from each bank of cylinders (L & R) within the system. With an unconnected twin pipe exhaust, this energy transfer doesn't happen. When I changed from OEM standard with X-pipe to Mongoose without X-pipe, I noticed a droning noise peaking around 2,000 rpm which wasn't there before.

I saw something on the Aus site ages back which suggested that the X was a more efficient solution than the H. However, one of the more popular systems, the Mongoose, has no link at all as previously stated. Unless you're searching for some extreme perfection I don't expect it will make much difference.

i believe the h pipe is to help with low down torque and that the pulses from each bank help pull the exhaust air from the other bank, and the X pipe is the same principle but does a better job .

You want one of these ;)
