The needle on my stock boost gauge always seems to stop just beore the 7...even though I know the car has had a boost upgrade (boost jets and bleed valves...or is it boost valves and bleed jets,,,) so I would expect it to be heading straight off the end....

Whats up with my car now...????

Could be, but should be much lower boost if your using jets and got safety mode.

True...I was thinking psi on aftermarket gauge

safety boost is 7psi regardless of whether your using boost jets or not , has your car ever gone higher than 7psi ??? if not you could always have been in safety boost and putting in a boost upgrade and jets will make no difference

I got the car after the previous owner had had a boost upgrade done. I don't think I have ever seen it go all the way to 7 on the stock gauge. There was an issue when I got it because I needed to have the PCV valves replaced as they were shot so I am wondering if the boost upgrade was done with faulty PCV valves which has meant the boost was higher than intended so the ECU has gone into safety mode???

I know less than nothing about mechanics so I could be up the wrong tree...everything I fix has a keyboard...lol

Not sure about doing an ECU test myself...(no keyboard..) so any one know a garage that could do it?

I am guessing the car was intended to be running about 14psi ( info from previous owner..) so I would like to see her using it all...

Thanks for the info guys...

Yup, I was saying his boost should be lower than just below the 7 on the stock gauge in safety mode, not that Jets give a lower safety boost. ;)

How can I tell what psi my car is actually running at? The car is stock other than the boost upgrade that was done before I bought it?

Thanks guys. One last question, what is the recommended aftermarket gauge to fit, and where can I get it done?

you can get a 52mm gauge from anywhere chris@get greddy sells them on here as does modding shops etc,all you need to do is run boost pipe to a vacuuem line on the car idealy the one that comes of the balance bar, takes about 20mins in total easy peezy ;)

then you can see what boost your running

Haha...I could not even tell you where those parts are, I would have to look it up...lol

Looks like a job I will need to get someone to do...

So to get the most out of my car, I need:

Conzult test to check Det sensor?

Aftermarket boost gauge

Boost controller. Something like a Profec e????

JWT chip?

Anything else you guys reckon I should get?

Shit...got one of those...bank manager thinks he is banking with me..not the other way round...

Anywhere in Essex I can get a Conzult test done???

If you come along to the next southend meet 1st sunday of the month (see SE meets section) Normaly someone turns up with a conzult, buy em a beer and job done!
