listened to that over and over when i was about 5. i still blame that for my 'problems'

not seen the tom cruise version yet. am i right in guessing its all about america (oh and btw the WORLD) being blown up, then all the americans getting together and families getting together and convincing the government (aka loads of generals sitting around a desk with millions of silly badges pinned to their jackets) that the people know best, then they find out some way of doing it, blow the aliens up, then everyone rejoices while the good ol' stars 'n' stripes flaps around in the background?

oh look ive just described: deep impact, independance day, day after tomorrow (and the rest)

lol btw this isnt a rant (crawls under bed with another Corona)

Ooooooooooooolllaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!

;)

I was gonna say that!! That sounds still gives me the creeps, and the sound of the 'lid' of the first landed craft unscrewing

Hehe, can't wait for the PROPER War Of The Worlds movie (the Jeff Wayne one ;))

Just back from seeing the new version. What a pile of kack! :smash:

Still have the original LP in A1 condition, listening to this really loud in darkness defo puts you in the Zone. I thought the Tom Cruise film was great with excellent GCI effects but as said previous if you compare it to the original LP you will be disappointed. Even the original soundtrack was missed off the new film. I have waited over 25 years for this film and do feel let down  . The first WOTW film with the flying sauces and the pink aliens never did hit the spot. If the new CGI movie is based on the original soundtrack then it could well be the greatest movie ever made.

Lets wait n see

saw the new version today and I have to admit it was pretty good, contrary to what i expected it to be like. effects were brill - even tho great big buildings and cars were being thrown about i think the effects blended in well and weren't too obvious. ending fell completely flat on its face tho  its as if Spielberg ran out of money and only just realised it in the last day of production
