Pulled away from a junction this afternoon, and suddenly had no power in the autobox! Plenty of revs, but nothing at all in any position in the box!

 

Engine was warm (up to temp), as I'd used it not all that long before this journey, there is plenty of oil in the box, and everything else works normally. It has the Jap oil cooler still fitted.

 

Now for the strange bit, after the two or so hours to get home (on the back of a truck) I struck her up and I was able to move her!!!!

 

Any help greatfully appreciated.

OK, the latest........

Well she's up in the air on four axel stands. I finally got the sump pan off (pain in the arse) but thats as far as I got, due to the sump dropping the remainder of it's oil all over my driveway yesterday afternoon, so I had to wait untill today to get hold of some 'Kitty Litter' to soak it all up :rolleyes:

 

My biggest problem now is that I'm trying to finish my house off due to hoping to get it up for sale within two weeks, so I'm pushed for time. Sorry to say but it's looking like I won't be taking her to JAE (but I'll be there) TBH I think my Auto oil pump has gone, but I'll still try and check the Line Presure Soliniod and the small filter. Don't think I'm going to get any more chances this week, so it'll be the weekend before I get another chance to do anything. Then if it is the pump, then I'll defo be looking for another box, so defo wont be taking it to JAE :cry: What a p155er, the biggest show of the season, and only 30 miles away from me and my Zed probably won't be there.

What makes you think its the oil pump? tbh there is fook all to go wrong in there. last two i striped one had overheated and killed the planatey gears, and the other had burnt out the brake band and high clutch pack.

I think it may be the pump, due to the noise when I start the car. Very screechy, that soon goes off, at the same time that I loose drive! It's just a thought, but I'm not dismissing it yet.

Could be, but my money is on the clutchplates and breakband OR the front planatary gears.

I've got similar problems, been advised that its a one way clutch has gone.

As I can get away in 2 then switch to D, but cant pullaway in D.

Diog. says 10 short flashes as internal mech malfunction.

Car goes in today for rebuild.

Mine started making a metalic sounding whirring noise to, as soon as I stick it in D no probs, also ok in all gears, for now anyhow, if you find out what it is boys could one of you PM me.

sounds like oil pump...tbh it could be loads of other things too...short of doing the usual diagnostic and fluid checks my best advice is to start saving up...:(

Thanks for that, am going to investigate over the weekend, had a quick listen last night and it sounds like it is coming from the back of the engine bay in the middle, is the oil pump near that area?
