Mark - as Nico says.. difficult!

Either use a crows foot socket (have a search around http://rswww.com for "crows foot" and you'll see what they look like), or Bosch (I believe) make a special O2 sensor socket - if you're lucky somewhere like Partco/Halfords/a motor factors might be able to get you one..

Oh - and get some penetrating oil (much better than WD40) and let it soak overnight. My favourite brand is PlusGas - available at Halfords, aroundabouts where they keep the WD40 usually, blue can.. Great stuff - be prepared for lots of blue smoke when you first start the car though as the oil film burns off the exhaust smile.gif

The special tool they are talking about is basically a deep socket with a split along its length. It is like this so the wire can come out of the side. Snap-on sell these but finding one could be difficult...

Make sure you have a good extension bar along with a couple of universal joints and a breaker/power bar socket wrench. I found the easiest way was to smash the back off the old sensor so you basically have the nut left. This way you can get a good standard socket on it. You need to go vertically with the extension too so that you can get a good straight twist on it....

When you've got it out make sure it hasn't left half its thread in the hole like mine had. The new one will go in with finger tightening then a good open ended spanner to nip it up tight. You can't use the open ended spanner to get it out though cos you can't get the leverage wink.gif Like Aaron says, also get lots and lots of penetrating oil on it overnight and keep giving it a soak every hour or so......

Of course the smashing the back off method only works if you have a new one to replace it with wink.gif

I've got the propper socket if you want to borrow it, where abouts are you???
