And I have to say I was disappointed, I love the NA and is has a lot of grunt, the car I went out in last night didn't have much if anything low down, turbo seemed really laggy, nothing obviously wrong but I was hoping to be wowed by the speed of the car.... :(

Is there not much power low down on the turbos?

My TT never fails to bring a :D across my face. Love the performance right the way to the limiter. Turbo's do have a slight lag but when they kick in its great. Wouldn't swap it for FA or should that be NA

Maybe it wasn't running right (safety boost or something).

I have an NA and have driven a TT too. When a TT comes on boost in 2nd and 3rd it's quite impressive.

I'd say it definatly was'nt running right then. More than likely in Safety mode, which gives a very flat performance with reduced boost and timing.

The retarded timing would give decreased performance before and after the turbo's kick in (so time to spoolup would also be slower), and the reduced boost would'nt offer much in the way of extra pull when they did kick in.

The N/A Does have more low down Torque, and in a lot of cases is easier to drive. The TT you need to hit 2.5/3.5 before anything happens, then it wakes up. 50 of one and half a dozen of the other.

Could well have been running in a safe mode then..I'm used to driving turbo cars and thet really didn't hit the spot....the search for a turbo continues then!

rememeber the power delivery of a standard one is very smooth

its only until youve left the rest of the world behind that you realise how fast your going

chris

 i think you need a test drive in mine then you will see the differnce in a turbo and a n/a

mine still running on standard tubs till xmas but pushes you back in the seat until theres no more road :nana2:

Here Here.

Yeah there is a bit of a delay when I boot mine (lag) i spose? but after that 1st second the fookin thing will normally wheel spin. Cant have been the full ticket?

Definately not the motor for me then, I'm going to see 2 more this weekend! :)

how about a Lotus Elise Turbo for about the same money? Roundabouts will be your friends :D

You’re best taking someone with you who drives a TT. For most people, a TT running in safety boost will seem quick, I have drove dozens of TTs and the differences from one to the other can be overwhelming.

Be warned, buying a lemon could potentially cost you thousands to put right. Go and view/drive at least a dozen before handing over any £££, it is a buyers market and there are loads of Zs up for grabs.

dont compare a Z to a lotus they are girls cars :slap:

ESpirit is different but still does nothing for me

How dare You,! How dare you!

Would an ecu diagnostic show if it were in safety mode? If it gave 55 all clear is it still possible it's operating in safety mode?.

I owned two n/a's before this tt and even though it is quicker, I would expect a lot more given that it's got an upgraded exhaust and air filter.

.The ecu diag is very basic, it only checks to see if it can either measure a resistance or a voltage of the engines electrical components. It will not tell you if adjustments are required. Unless you have access to a Consult tester, your best running it down to your local Nissan dealer.

Have a look or do a search for what to look out for when buying a TT. There are some guy out there now who will tell you anything. I went for a test drive and the guy did a kick down and tried to sell that off as the turbo kicking in but I was looking at the boost meter the whole time and it barely moved. Watch out for the crooks. I was testing how fast mine does 1-60 on what I thought was a dry enough evening and when the turbos kicked in it lost all grip and started the infamous sliding of the ass move and that was only with a little dew on the road. If you can get a ride from someone on here with a TT trust me you will know when the turbo is running properly.

Yeah, sounds like it might not have been a great example. Boost kicks it at around 2500 rpm in my experience. Also, if you want to pull away quickly there's definitely a right way and a wrong way to do it in a TT... in fact there's more than one wrong way since if you over-rev you'll wheelspin like mad and the back end will be all over the place, which I can tell you is a really interesting thing when it happens in traffic.

Whats all this then??? Is it ressurrect an old thread from the summertime night?????
