Anyone know how you stop auto bidding on an item?

I have looked through my e-bay account and set up and cannot find how to stop the auto bid function, I no longer wish to bid on a vehicle that has two days left, there are other bidders and the auto bid system is raising the amount against the other bidders when I no longer want to continue ..any help appreciated.

there is a way to retract your bid, citting and explanation ..example, couldnt get a hold of seller etc. and resonable excuse will do. dosent affect your feedback rating , but will show you retracted a bid..hope that helps..

 Jeff do you mean that eBay keeps upping your maximum bid every time someone else outbids you!? If so I haven't heard of this feature before. I know theres software out there that will 'bid snipe' for you at the last minute. Ive typed auto bid and automatic bidding etc. into ebay help but got nothing back.

i think its called proxy bidding. You bid a maximum amount you will pay, which may not actually be the amount you end up paying, if you win. It automatically ups your buying price if someone outbids you, till you reach "your" maximum bid...

As far as I am aware you will have to retract your bid. I am assuming you entered a highest maximum bid and that has yet to be reached? As a result when someone else bids you automatically outbid them by a small amount until you reach your predetermined maximum.
