Hey guys, erm Ignition Coil Question

Hope everyones doing good. My ignition coil has burnt out 3 times. My mechanic said it mus be one of the wires shortcircuiting. Now these wires, they all run from the ECU dont they? Am i in big sh1t, enlighten me please :)

The wires are all together in the ecu loom, if you trace it back it will go to the ptu then to the ecu, maybe the ptu is expiring.

This is more common than you might have thought, in almost all of the cases I have come across the coil pack connectors have been reverse connected, by this I mean the plastic detent that would normally stop it been connected incorrectly has broken away allowing the coneector to fit either way around.

Look to the coil packs close by and check out the cable colours, ensure the problem coil pack is connected in the same way.

Reverse connecting the coil pack burns out the secondary winding, the heat generated actually melts the coil pack, the worse thing is the coil will still operate until failure so does not give any indication it is wrongly connected.

Hope that helps
