ok, ive emptied the radiator out - there's was loadsa orangey shit in it. then ive put loads a normal water through it and filled it up with normal water with the plug in, so i can then flush it all out again b4 i put the coolent in. i was wondering

 

A) how to i know how much to put in , is it 5.5 litres or something. i have filled it up with normal water, and it kinda fills up and then drains through a bit more, so i put more in, then it fills up to the cap, then it drains in a bit more. how do i know when its full?

 

B) ive taken the off side wheel off and the cover so i can see the expansion tank, except i cant tell if there is any water in there atall, i just cant see in the twat, its all hazey and twatty.

 

what do you lot reckon, ...from empty just bought 5 litres of cooolent in and that;ll do?

Forget that tank,fill it up by the rad cap until it overflows,then screw the cap back on and start your engine,get it up to working temp and then slowly unscrew the bleed screw on the TOP of the rad,until all the air bubbles have escaped.Keep toping it up this may take a few attempt's to bleed the system.

The full system is 9.5l, with 0.5l extra in the expansion tank. But if you drain just the rad you'll never get all that out - I got about 5l out every time I drained via the bottom hose/petcock. So expect more or less the same..
